Just tried WOTR today, pretty good but yeah, I do hate charts.

Just a question, what is the Song of Blade system?

Song of Blade and Heroes is a skirmish fantasy game by . A nice "lite" system that does the job that it's meant too with out the extra tripe.

Grab the first book for $5US or there is a bundle deal for the first three books. The first books is nice and complete, second adds new races, dungeon rules and so on.

The system is great to use as it has a small amount of gambling to it.

I can see the complaint about charts, but when it all fits on one 3x5 card, I'm not bothered all that much. But, yes, their are much more intuitive ways to do it. Also, theirs usually formulas to do the same thing without a chart.

Ok my wife and I went down to the GW store and picked up our figures.

This should give me a really good start. It should take me 3-4 months just to paint all of it.

Now that we spent the gross national product of a small nation on GW figures I'm going to weep.

I too am looking/wanting to start painting once again, this lead to 40K as I had amassed a huge stockpile (I have seen FGS with less). This in turn lead to wanting to play 40K..... which came to a violent halt when I had a demo game the other day.

So now I am looking at systems to plug and play with. Found this one . Would still like to see CCotD's AT-40K too.

I would love to also use 5150 but the layout is shytting me way too much plus I would ahve to fumble over a number of books just to run it.

The problem I've found with pretty much every system but 40K and WHFB is in finding opponents. Make sure you'll have a couple of regular players before you commit to another system.

I'd love to play Warlord or Warmachine/Hordes, but can't find an active group.

OK... So of the 40k armies I have to say I like painting the tyranids the best... Here's a few shots of my budding hungry brood.

As for terrain I'm going to start with Mars Station I think.

God I would kill for another Mars station - Loved the structures but with a tiny gothic twist would be sweet. Plus bringing it in-line with the more "standard" builds of todays WWG.
