Good luck to Catalyst! Hope they can pull this off.

Expected as far as BTC and SR, but kudo's for attempting on the Clix lines.

I would love to see MWAoD continue. They have several mechs that where sculpted but never released yet.

I just hope they don't acquire the property to ensure no one else does then never do anything with it. I would also love to see Mage Knight Dungeons make a return. One of the best Hack n' Slash dungeon games ever made (IMHO)

Personally, I'd love to see the whole of MageKnight ressurected. Love the system. Just the last few itterations were bloated. Bring it back to the original release with new models and I'll be happy.

If Catalyst were to change any element of these games for the better, what would you do? Would you do a Batman style reboot of the series? Would you incorporate older models? Update the rules for the models?

I can only speak for 1 and 3.

Mechwarrior is a good game. Great for fast play, but I'd go with Catalyst's rules level theme and refurbish the tournament gameplay as a base of rules, maybe incorporating the S7 ruleset... maybe. Then create a number of optional rules that increase granularity... maybe some kind of connection with the upcoming Strategic Ops rules. Basically exploit the connection between CBT and MW, creating some good synergy between the systems so you can flow easily from one to the other and back again.

If there were a way to keep existing models relevent, I'd do that. Maybe offer free replacement click cards or.. something.

The fictional setting is still a sore spot for CBT people. However, considering that the MW novel line will continue, I'd advocate keeping the post RotS setting. Having both properties under one roof, though, provides CBT an opportunity to catch up once the Jihad kerfuffle is over. Further explorations of the RotS era could be covered in Historicals sourcebooks.



Pirates needs rules for wind. Period. No questions asked. Linking cannon with sails is... meh. I could live with it if the removal of a sail stood in for a general loss of capability. So you lose both cannon and movement capability.

I had friends that thought the original Mage Knight was wonderful so I would vote for that.
Personally, I never got into the game.
Pirates:
Dump the background AND the rules and sell the ships to be used with one of the quality rules sets out there.
There are quality rules sets for the Age of Sail out there; just use those!
These ships are a cheaper alternative to what else is available out there.

MechWarrior Dark Age:
Trash it!
Yeah yeah, I know, some people think it is cool.
Shoot, even I have a few hundred invested in it.
New game - MechWarrior 3025!
Use Clix Tech, but take it back to 3025 and move both forward and backward from there.
You have nearly twenty years of BT development to play with there; think that is good enough for another twenty years of clix.
Let the Jihad die on the vine!
Even have CBT develop the back history to the level of the 3025-3062 history AND complete the development of the 3025-3062 history.

Halo ActionClix:
Keep this going, going and going and GOING!
I know a good many parents in seven states that do not allow the playing of M-rated computer games (seriously, are they not as "bad" as R-rated or worst movies?), but allow the reading of the Halo literature out there and allow the children (yes, I know some serious young ladies into the game) to have fun on the tabletop!
Super game!
Develop it and the background further!

Heroclix:
Lots of Heroclix fans out there, whether they like DC, Marvel, Indy, any combination thereof or all of the above.
Seems to be a game that makes serious money.
Keep it going.
Shoot, I even use a few of the non-superhero figures in my Pulp gaming.

Shadowrun Duels:
I knew kids who got into this game and then moved on to the RPG.
I think it would be in Catalyst's own interest to keep this game an active part of the company's stable because of that simple fact.
A fair number of Shadowrunners I knew also like the game, but mostly as an alternative game.

Last and not least by any estimation - Crimson Skies!!
Topps killed this game off because it came out the same year Creapy Freaks' had its disasterous performance - losing over two million dollars in a matter of months.
Crimson Skies' death reason was the same reasoning behind the killing of Shadowrun Duels.
None of the reasoning was based on market research and/or sales figures generated by these two games' performances.
The only reason Topps bought WizKids was gain control of the clix base technology so they could do SportsClix they wanted to do.
Crimson Skies, out of all of these games, had the biggest potential as a clix game, and it was struck down in its infancy.
Bring back Crimson Skies!
