Can't say i am suprissed.

while i liked some of their figures (some of the Horror Clicks, Mage Knight, and Hero Clicks) i really felt they shot themselves in the foot with a few things. They really marketed to only the game players, and went out of thier way to not court Any other potential buyers of their poduct lines. You could still find some usefull stuff (like the Zombies many of us here bought for other games), but they didn't make any 3D versions of a lot of stuff that just isn't on the market in by other companies and would have seen some sales, increasing their bottom line if they didn't market to just one group.

They ran Mage knight into the ground, then just about every other line they produced. i never played the Mage Knight game but even when DDM were around i bought Mage Knight for more varried miniatures for my various games, and they killed it.

Horror Clicks had the great potential to produce some Modern Pre-painted plastic figures, for a wide variety of things. While there were some figs i grabbed (like zombies, werewolves etc) the Victim was something that had a lot of potential, but was never produced other than a Pog, becuase the HrC gammers wanted it that way. I know i would have bought up loads of victims to use a moderns for other games. Had they made them the "HrC gamer" could have sold off his supply of Victims, and i owuld have bought them, or a box of 3D victims. Heck they would have been great to mod them, and the HrC could as well.

Hero Clicks had in the begning a bunch of Cops, Thugs, and other figures that i bought loads of (singlely and boosters of), becuase they were modern pre-paints, then they started turning things like that into Pogs, and i stopped buying even on the secondary market any Hero clicks. While i own tons of comics, and liked getting some of the named Marvel figures as well when they stopped making the other things and just made 10 more versions of Spiderman i stopped buying any figures as they didn't really work for anything i wanted anymore.


They had purchases from me (yeah even boosters) when i could get an interesting assortment of things to customize, or use out of the box, when they switched to just going for one market "their tourney gamers" i stopped buying any of their products becuase it just didn't suit my needs. Make a product for only one type of buyer limits your market, they looked at only one potential base and said we make product for them, ignoring all others. And they knew people were buying and using the figs form X game other games, they just didn't care to even include something that could appeal to another demographic to increase the sales base, so not supprissed they went under, honestly supprissed it took this long.

Glad to hear that Catalyst Games will be keeping BTC and SR properties alive.

I had enough trouble trying to find players as it was beforehand now I have spent masses of cash on mw and horrorclix and they're toast? No matter how much of the game I have noone will play with me now. If it's not GW or Magic cards it's dead. I was actually told where I bought them where to find players but noone was there to play, only Magic and gw were evident. Trying to interest players in anything else comes to nothing.
I hate thinking for myself, I really should get around to dumping everything I can't use for GW and resign myself to the obvious fact that I need to adopt these overmarketed underproduced games exclusively.
Gaming is a hobby that can really make you feel trapped.

I thought the expression was "deader than a door nail." Anyway this is indeed bad news. I love their Pirates line.
