Anyone else getting Fable II? I have been following it closely, and keeping the hype in check, but had decided it was absolutely worth getting, and had preordered the LE version.

However, the recent announcement that, due to supply issues, almost all of the LE bonus items are no longer being issued, and all you get now is a behind the scenes dvd, without an of the designer videos, and a certificate to download a couple of items over xbox live. The game itself is fantasy, with flint pistols etc. but the bonus items include an energy sword (lightsaber) and Spartan armour (medieval style Halo armour), which don't seem that appropriate and will probably be overpowered... not to mention available seperately.

I really wanted the Hobb (goblin) figurine, cigar box, and even the fate cards sounded fun. The fate cards will apparently now be downloable as a pdf for anyone, not just LE owners.

Oh, the game is also not shipping with the coop play over xbox live, but will get a patch for that a week or so after launch. This doesn't worry me too much, as it's still coming.

So, anyone else getting the game at all? Still getting the LE?

The whole Xbox or one platform only is an almost dead concept and is a shame that FII is going down that path. All it means is the a year later PS3 will get it... and it will be upgraded for BluRay.

If and when it comes out PS3 I will get this as opposed to the PC version as my box is aging.

I'm getting Fable 2 and Fallout 3 for the XBox 360.

I'm staying away from the PS3.

For one, I always get to see what the PS3 and XBox has months before release, especially if it has online DLC. My company does a lot of the networking crap for both platforms. I absolutely love Live's easy-to-adapt proprietary network. I absolutely hate the PSOnline system.

I don't think that the PS3/XBox only debate goes both ways. From what I know having to develop software for the PSO payment service, I believe that the architecture of the PS3 is utter bullshit. It does not play well with simple design, or clean coding, or even well-designed online systems.

Instead, Sony has devised a system that I have to alter almost every piece of credit card code to make it work. I know other developers hate on Sony's PS3 architecture choice as well, and if they could, they would not make multiplatform games for both, and just go with the XBox. I mean, when companies like Blizzard, Bungie and id all refuse to make a game on your system due to the utter crappy set up, you should probably look deeply into your next console design. This is why some companies only release stuff on the XBox and not on the PS3 - because it's more cost effective, to quote John Carmack.

I can't even get my wife - the ultimate Sims and Second Life fan - to play PSHome for more than 10 minutes on the beta. That's how far Sony has fallen in my eyes. So in all honesty, based on your multiplatform comment, LA, Sony better get their act in gear and live up to the multiplatform programming simplicity so that XBox doesn't eventually push them into the corner. This is why Sony can never meet a release date on their PSO DLC.

The only reason I'd get a PS3 is to watch blu-ray movies. So I'm waiting for it to go down in price again before I actually buy one.

Actually, I believe the official word is that FO3 will not have the toolkit provided any time soon. There will be content - Knights of the Nine or whatever Oblivion style DLC - for FO3. Although, you could be talking about how they are considering the DLC for FO3 only for the PC and the XBox 360, and none for the PS3 version.

Again, the PS3 architecture is hard to create DLC for. Sony has hang-ups with networking and their online service. This is why PSHome has taken like a year longer than they promised to make it even to just a beta phase. When I first tried PSHome back in February of this year, I'm glad they waited another six months in development, since the movement was jerky, the interaction (chatting and VOIP) horrendously intermittent, and the vistas were rather plain looking.

When I get a PS3, I'll also get LBP, because I've played it, and it's a great game that goes beyond my expectations in "interactive, multiplayer toybox." Those guys did a fantastic job.
