I would love to get a live multiplayer game of Civ IV going some time and I know a lot of us here seem to play the game, so I wanted to check who would be interesting in joining. Timing would be difficult so if you are interested, please vote in the poll and then post the following below:

I've not done it before, so I'm not sure... just wanted to get the ball rolling really. If we do it over a few nights, we could do an hour each night and save the status... or we could try a marathon session on the weekend. I think a quick game can be done in 4-5 hours, and multiplayer games have a timer to make sure noone takes too long.

I put Weekend Night, but since I'm in BST (currently GMT-1, I think), it'll be more like Weekend Daytime those of you in the USA.

Feel free to not include me though - as I'm well aware of the time gap between US & UK making things difficult - as a 1-off, I'd be willing to stay up until around 3:30am at the absolute latest (earliest) meaning a 5 hour game would start at 10:30 at the latest (or between what... 2:30 - 5:30 depending where you are in the US...)

As much as I would like to.... I'm out of this one.
The baby interupts my computer use way too much to join in this one...

From what I understand, when playing multiplayer, if someone drops offline, the AI takes over control of that country... or if someone joins a game in progress they simply take over from the AI for a country. With that in mind, we certainly have a backup in case people need to go for a bit.

If it works best to do it in 1 hour blocks, I'm fine with that too...

Never player beyond my lonesome - but as a warning, my computer needs some serious looking at and crashes out fairly regularly.

I'm pretty sure the motherboard's on it's way out but can't afford the money or time to hike it out and replace it.

My PC is pretty dated too unfortunately. It's still good by non-gamer types, but I've stopped buying the latest games until I can upgrade as I just can't run them. No Bioshock or even Stalker. I tried Tabula Rasa, and while the game didn't draw me in enough, the performance issues made it a definite no-no.

I imagine the first time we try this, all kinds of strange things might happen... but it'll be a fun experience all the same.
