I think most of the group likes Necro for the familiar ruleset more than for the setting. If I were to try a new ruleset, I'd probably go with No Limits and the Road Warriors Expansion. has the rules, which are completely transparent as to points cost, no "+/- X because the the playtesters thought the unit was weak/the test battle didn't follow the storyline/we want the customers to buy lots of this model" that GW has. Every force in No Limits is balanced because you can see how every force is built.

Our group keeps trying to bridge the gap, make Wargames more RPG-like and RPG's more Wargame like.

I noticed that many people "house rule" or "grandfather" in items even though the Official rules say different.

It is all fine and good when everyone knows what is valid and not valid.

House rules and etc are great as long as they are followed by all and not to just the 1st paragraphers and etc.

Sorry to hear that Gaming Bird. Still, it sounds like you are making the right decision, I just hope you can find others to game with soon that are of a similar mindset.

As much as I enjoy winning a game, I really try not to gloat or show off about it. Sure, I tease a little if the other player makes a joke about always being beaten, but I don't ever want a player to feel bad. I think of it like this... if I started dancing around the room shouting "Boo-yah!" and waving my finger in someones face, they are highly unlikely to want to play with me again... but if I'm nice and polite and we chat about the game, and talk over which strategies worked and didn't... plus the luck of the dice... then we both feel good about trying again. At least, I hope that is how it comes across.

If someone acted towards me the way that guy sounds like he did with you, I would have walked away before you did... so you should be proud that you really gave it every effort.

Not a problem, I've been working on getting my old gaming group together for a GURPS campaign, I just need to get the schedule of the one guy who's only available every other weekend, and get the gaming prospectus back from each so i can see what genre ai'll be making the game around.

I agree with Arabin, some groups are just deeply unrewarding to play with. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and look elsewhere. I wouldn't game with those guys either. Hope you find a new group soon; tabletop/RPG crossover can be done!

Thanks for the encouraging word, 'Mom,' I'll be meeting with some, possibly all of the old gaming group tomorrow, and I'll see how fast I can get things organized.
