Infinity rules has a lot of advantages over other systems, it is action-reaction based with as many orders as troops you have (hard to explain with few words). The idea is that both players have to take decissions and in fact play at the same time with a hardcore reaction rules...

But the most important, the miniatures are damn good, pretty realistic and in the fashion of Masamune Shirow's works... If you have a look at the catalog you'll find hard to choose only one of the factions

I own both Rezolution (and played it) and Infinity (hard cover rulebook, but not a chance to play it yet). (Hell, I own almost every game system out there)

TOPO is correct about Infinity and the action-reaction system. From the rules it looks a little daunting but most games systems do when you first go to learn them.

Rezolution plays very well. I happen to like the game very much and I like the universe. I do not like how Abberent has released product. The redid their sculpts from the originals (I like the original humans, they looked vulnerable and real, not the cartoon stuff out now). Also there are several units in the book that have not come out yet, which I find disturbing.

Infinity has a very rich and detailed Universe (yes, fluff is important to me since the rules should work around the fluff). The Biggest item that drew me to Infinity is the . Treating Islam as a philosophical and benign religion and not a bunch of unclean fanatics bent on the destruction of everything non-Muslim. But this is fluff and not the rules. The rules are put together very well, but with all translations, has some errors or things that make you go "huh?!?", but if you re-read and then think of someone speaking in Spanish, then it will make sense.

If you are looking for quick, futuristic play, take a look at . I own it, play it and really enjoy it. It is quick but detailed.

The Gangs of Megacity 1 that Arabin speaks of is a fun game. I don't get off on it like Arabin does, but we've played together and the game is fun and you don't get bogged down in details. All depends if you like the AD2000 Judge Dredd universe. If so, I do recommend this game.

CCotD'

I used to spend so much effort trying to convince Mongoose to continue support for GOMC1 beyond just S&P article, to release much needed minis, etc. but never got anywhere. The company decided to focus on a couple of products that were bringing the most revenue and pretty much pretend their other products didn't exist. Mighty Armies was another game that had a small following... nothing huge, but then does every game HAVE to be huge? I realize costs must be covered, salaries paid, etc. but as long as you are making profit...

Mongoose should have released a boxed set of female gangers. This would have sold a lot better than the male set since the male set was exactly the same as the one you get in the game box itself. Not only that, but the art throughout the rulebook, and on the cover, all shows ladies... and one of the example gangs in the book is all female!?! But then again, the reputation is incorrectly calculated on those gangs anyway *shrug*

The other thing that I'm sure would have sold huge amount is plastic sprues of Judges. I know the game focuses on the gangs and not the judges, but I would have bought a few of these myself, and others who don't want to play the game would buy them for multipose judges.

Still, maybe we'll see this kind of things if and when the next game comes out, whether it is GOMC1 Evolution, or something new entirely.

I should stress again though, I'm a fanboy for Judge Dredd... and GOMC1 is the only miniatures game where you get to play in that world. I really like GOMC1, but my focus is on the Dredd world.

Arabin

You could also have a look at "Dark Age". Its a Sci-Fi skirmish game but set in a world based on the artwork of Brom. Very much suited for many of the WWG sets as well. I have run demos using Caveworks, plus have games planned using Mars Station.

There was talk previously of a WWG/Dark Age set, though I haven't heard anything new about this for a while.

Its a very good game, with lovely miniatures (though some may not be suitable for younger players).

Of course, I am biased since I am a Playtester and Demo-er for them, but it won't cost anything to check it out. There are Quick Start rules and forcelists to download from the main site, many great people on the forums (including out mate Punkrabbitt who is a Developer there).

Worth looking at anyway, and it gives you another option.

You raise a good point there CCotD. I used to check the Rez site regularly, and they had things like the Penal Legions listed on the schedule (I think) before the Vatacina faction ever appeared. It was just the four factions with a couple of mercs on the horizon. Deadlines seem to often be missed these days, and things slide further back all the time.

Looking at the factions the CSO seem to be getting a lot more releases than other factions, and while there are odd releases here and there to flesh out the other factions, it does seem a little stagnant.

When I first dicovered Rez, I bought the rule book and was really excited by some of the artwork, which was promised to be made into minis. A year and a half later, and there are still a bunch in the book that are not released, and there are new ones appearing, as CCotD said. It takes away the fun since a lot of the reason people get into Rez is the style of minis and the fluff.

Arabin

Unfortunately Allianece does not carry Infinity, we checked last night. I am guessing because Corvis is a foreign company, though that is just a guess. They do carry Rezolution however.

Right now I prefer Infinity. I just have to decide if I like the extra money in my pocket more

Dark Age has a very different feel than Infinity and Rez... it is almost Post-Tech Fantasy, really. If you are looking for the Cyberpunk feel, definitely Rez or Infinity. But if you want a tight game portraying showdowns in the watselands between the human survivors of an abandoned colony against all manner of alien and bio-chemical horror, maybe Dark Age is the game for you.

I'll get the shop owner to check with Wargames, Inc. to see what it would cost to get models from them.

The Warstore is the only place I buy minis from online if i can help it. I've been shopping there on and off for years. Neal is great.

I just printed out the Dark Age rules and give them a good read.

Here is my 2c on a few of the game systems out there that I have played.

Rez : CCotD Hits most of my feeling on the mark. Spotty support, very frustrating. I was an early adopter of the Rez game. Search these forms and you’ll find a few posts of mine. But over time, the promise of releases and the lack of those releases made my decision to move on to other games. Second was the minis, I like quite a few of the sculpts, but while some are nice quality sculpts, just lacked movement. Unlike CCotD, I disliked the first round of CSO minis, both in style and quality, most of mine have pock marks in the mini. They corrected that issue and I own a lot of the new CSO. I like the sculpts. I have a friend who got into the game because of the artwork on the rule book cover…Bang Bang and ?????, those minis still are not produced, and new factions are.. he left the game because of it. I love the fluff and where this game could go….. but hasn’t.

Infinity: This is the game I moved to from Rez. Different but the same. Different in game play and fluff, but both fits the same type of game. Both fast, fun, and deadly small sided Sci-Fi games. I love most of the Infinity sculpts. So far they have kept to a regular release schedule and are releasing minis from the rule book. The fluff isn’t as good as Rez, and some of it doesn’t work for me, but it’s not bad enough to turn me away from the game. I really like the military-realistic small arms combat style of the game. The bots and TAGS (big anime amour suits are simply the best on the market.) I really dig.
Man this guy ROCKS....

Also a broader selection in the type of troops available in Infinity than Rez, things like Uni-cycle troops, drop troops, big fighting bots vs. what look like remote control cars as bots. Different style of minis vs. Rez, a style I prefer.

AT -43: This is not a skirmish minis game, it’s more of a mid to large scale unit battles… think 40k. I’ll not compare it to either Rez or Infinity as it’s apples and oranges, but i do dig this game...fun times....

Dark Age: I’ve seen two demos and own a starter set of minis. I can’t say much more as I’ve not spent enough time to give a decent review. I’ve read the fluff and find it well written, but doesn’t grab me like Rez or Infinity, again, just my POV. I do like some of the minis, and it looks like a fun game, but I’ve not played it yet…..
