There is also a 5 MB demo, but the free player's guide is awesome. It is almost the entirety of the product, minus only the DM information. I am proud to have the print version (landscape) collecting dust on my bookshelf. I just wish I had a setting that it would fit in.

Downloading now - and pretty good timing, all things considered.

I've been pondering uses for my Shellendrak monstrosity, and planning my next campaign. I thought to use it as a small magic school in the Scarred Lands (in the future - around 995 instead of 128 or whatever the stock game year is), and this might help speed development of the school right along.

Yeah, it should work well for that.

I believe that the print version even gives a possible location in the Scarred Lands. Personally I would place it in Hollowfaust, but that's just 'cause I like the place.

The army of the Undead passes through, people hiding in their homes as it travels. In their wake the dead leave... newly cobbled roads, repaired bridges, and repainted signposts? Those folks at Hollowfaust really need to get their priorities straight.

Hollowfaust is one of the supplements that pulled me into the Scarred Lands in the first place. Its still one of the best. Heck, I think I even wrote a review for it at Amazon.

I'm kind of warming to the idea of the traveling magic school. Why is it traveling? To avoid the long arm of Anteas and Virduk (the twain - along with Geleeda - that I will use no matter what year I set my campaign in), who would love nothing more than to use the secrets of the magic school in Calastian BattleMage training.

Back in the very dawn of published settings my favorite was a product by Judges Guild - The City State of the Invincible Overlord. The place was a 'teeming hive of scum and villainy' that was not to be equaled for RPGs until Chaosium produced Thieves World. It was also the first product that I ever saw that had a separate Player's Map, with important DM information missing. Rumors abound, thieves stalk the rooftops, and the streets twist and turn.

A few years ago the product was revised for D20, and I knew that I had to get this shiny hardcover replacement for my long lost original on cheap newsprint. This is a distinctly 'old school' setting, there are dungeons and tombs under the city, a nearby goblin reservation, and monsters (wandering and otherwise) may be found on the streets. Not to everyone's tastes, I will admit, but if you like fleshing things out a bit for yourself then this is a fine place to visit.

But you really wouldn't want to live there.
