If it's a "generic" Fantasy setting you're after, you might want to get the Fantasy Bestiary TK, the Fantasy Gear TK, and (*dodging for cover*) the Pulp Worldbuilder TK.

Yes, I know! You don't like Pulp. But the Pulp WBTK also contains the Pulp Bestiary, and that is real big on Mundane Animals, both living (big cats, rhino, giant anaconda, piranha, etc.) and extinct (dinosaurs, sabre-tooth tiger, etc.). There's an entire chapter entirely dedicated to swarms. Of course, it also has regular Pulp array of mythical/supernatural fiends: Zombies, mummies, yetis, animates statues, etc.

I'm working on a fantasy setting myself, and my list of creatures contains more entries from the Pulp TK than from the Fantasy Bestiary.


Oh, and if you're planning on having oceans on your world (and make use of them) make sure to get 50 Fathoms. Not only does 50F contain rules for ships and trade, it's also brim full with naval/coastal adventures which wouldn't need much tweaking to incorporate them in any other Fantasy world.

I considered the fantasy beasery but at the time I was thinking more along the lines of a man vs man conflict than ghouls and goblins. I may still pick it up for some variety but as of right now I am on a limited budget (if it cost more than free, its out of my budget for the next couple of weaks to a month at least). If I pick up the pulp TK it would just to have it engraved in stone so I can smack you in the head with it... ok I may get it for the natural animals (and to smack you) but the SWR had listings for a couple of them already so I figured I would wing it from there.

My "capaign idea is again a modification of the plot arc I wrote for my own game but I was going to modify it and tweak it for use in a fantasy rpg (this would allow me to workout some more of the plot as well). When I say generic fantasy I mean not as weird as what SW normally presents.

He recently came out with some new stuff (check under Vehicles) but the bulk of his stuff he has relegated to the Classics lines in two groups (2003-2004 and 2005-2006). The Classics are bundled together in batches and heavily discounted from their original, individual prices. Loads of color schemes included. Great bargains.

Mel is "known" for his mechs, his latest is simply drop-dead gorgeous (if you are into that sort of thing)

BTW ... since you are new I should point out that normally it is bad form (forbidden) to put links to other cardstock companies in the WWG forums. However, WWG has partnered with Ebbles on a few things, so this is an exception. Links to glue and cardstock and markers and miniatures and rules companies are basically anybody who is not a competitor are all okay.

I read a pretty cool thing yesterday. On the Dragonsfoot board, in Frank Mentzer's Q&A thread, he spontaneously pimped Shane and Savage Worlds (even linking to it). Thought that was pretty cool.

During my recent C&C and AD&D fit (brought on my working on an even more old-school version of Savage Worlds than Joel's very nice Dungeons and Savages conversion) I picked up the old Holmes D&D Basic set. I was reading through it, and was struck by a number of similarities in Classic D&D and Savage Worlds. SW is far more complete, but there they share an elegance and simplicity. Good stuff indeed.
