You know I think it's less about a specific project than it is that there are certain times when I should definitely not build. Or as things don't seem to work (cut is off, glue just not cooperating, warpage) I should just go do something else for a while. (Weep in the corner, play in traffic, smack head off wall)

But if I were to point out a specific project, I'd say it was when I first started to print and assemble my first WWG product, Arena Works. I had not realized my print settings were "fit to page" for about 1/2 of the 30 or so sheets of card stock I printed, the other 1/2 was normal. And the color settings had somehow altered as well. (I was printing this at work, so I could print 1/2 at a time. And other projects had forced me to alter the print settings...unfortunately I never thought to switch them back!) Let me tell you, how badly I wanted to scream when I could not figure out why some steps were out of scale, and 1 part of the chapel would not fit the other 1/2... UGH! Needless to say, it was just about a complete disaster. BUT, it was a great learning experience. And I've never repeated(knock on wood) this again.

Oh yes....I have a bitter memory over the 45 degree risers in arena works. I believe it was the first set I tried to tackle (not a wise set to start with), and those bloody coliseum risers just would not line up when I was building. I actually gave up on the arena works build after several days of fiddling. Someday I'll return to it....I still need an arena for my gladiators to fight with the "Red Sand, Blue Skies" rules.

Well, I only have 2 builds so far (3rd well on the way), but I wasn't happy with my first build, Caveworks............ only 1 problem with it really and that was the card I used. Only after printing a load of sheets out did I notice that the ink wasn't going on properly, and there was a lot of white spots everywhere. Closer looking at the card revealed it has thin lines going across the card and it was the lines on the card that caused the ink problems.............








......... the rest of that card pack is being used for reinforcing pieces only *sigh*

A variant on the build from Hell was my Pirate Cove, lots of work went into it, a complete inn built to sit on top of it... And then I discovered that the Maiden was bigger than the cove I was building for it.

Somehow all the joy went out of the project at that point, the cove ended its days as a Skaven infested pit below Mordheim.

The Auld Grump, still had fun playing in it, but it left a sour feeling in my gut.

Ouch, that does sound nasty. I often sketch layouts out before building, It helps but then I haven't yet built sprawling layouts like some of the forum members around here. I love the look of the big builds, but can't imagine where I'd keep something like that. I've had smaller ideas where I just start building without planning it out in detail and usually end in a big mess.
