Perhaps I should take the blame for the phrase "True 1.5".

Past kits have offered up ground tiles in gridless, 1" and 1.5". However, buildings have been designed to fit onto 7" square ground tiles, so those into clix gaming had special ground tile templates that had a .5" sliver of a space along two sides of the building. And roof and floor tiles for those buildings had a 4x4 grid of 1.5" squares, with slivers of unusable space around the outside.

Once a clix gamer thoroughly explained the problems, I set about kitbashing some roof and floor tiles that were "True" 1.5" squares - that is to say, the tiles were 7.5" square. The idea was that a person could print the building sheets at 107% of norm, and then the building is perfectly sized for a 7.5" ground tile. Add the kitbashed floors and roofs and you had full 1.5" squares, no slivers of unusable space.

In my description of this, I called them True 1.5".

I have no idea what Matt is doing to address this issue with this kit. But I would never fear that Matt would decide to come out with only 6" ground tiles, or drop the gridless options. So he's done something IN ADDITION TO supporting the standard 1" grid.

And since he said this kit is different than all the rest, my guess is that he's addressed the issue in some clever manner. I won't speculate on what he may have done, but I'll bet it's interesting!

I think the policy should now be when it hits 95 percent (stupid blackberry doesn't have a percent or ampersand.... Dammit, how am I supposed write my hack code to gain millions from some nigerian bank where some deposed dictator has his money stored! I don't have the up front 25,000 to pay upfront....) I was in my local Ace store and they had all their Xmas goodies heavily marked down, and there was this wroght-iron fence and gate that would look terrific around an Addams Family type of residence. They had two left (each kit had four wall sections plus an opening gate piece). I was really tempted to get them both considering the discount ... but then I thought, when would I ever really need them?

Which got me thinking about this kit, and so I asked if there were any sneak peeks coming.

The cool thing about the fence pieces, there were little lamp posts buildin to each corner piece ... and they were WORKING lights! A little wire connected them to a battery pack. So it was not only a cool iron fence with a working gate, but working lights too.

Regular price was $13 marked off 50%.

SHould I go back and get them?

Sigh. I was "almost" hoping that when I went back to Ace they would be gone, and the temptation would pass. But no, they were still there on the shelf, calling out to me. I picked them both up.

For those who might be interested, they are LeMAX Lighted Accessories - Lighted Wrought Iron Fence. Item # 9509779. Five pieces, each was indeed 4" long. The fence sections are 2" tall to the corner stone pillar, the bottom of each fence piece is red brick for .5" and then the iron bits reach up from there an additional 1.25" for 1.75" tall. The corner posts have a light.

The gate does NOT open. It looks like it would, but the double gate is closed. The set looks like this:

Not bad at all considering the 50% off sale price. I'll get some batteries into the thing at some point and turn it on and post a piccy for "inspiration".

Hmm, those are actually really nice. I'm impressed and will have to pop to my local Ace store and see if any are left. My closest store is about halfway between CCoTD's and Seattlegamer's... and I need to buy a ladder anyway so it's a good excuse to go there

Robby ... the lighted fence is also 3" tall, but like the gargoyle fence, that is to the tallest point on the set. Which happens to be the tip tip of the lights on the columns. Those black lantern pieces are actually 1" tall exactly, mounted atop 2" tall grey columns.

I suspect the gargoyle fence has similar dimensions, probably 2" tall for the corner pieces, and 1" more for the actual gargoyles. However, the lighted fence is rock-solid when plugged together. There are two holes in each column and two metal prongs on the other end used to plug into the next piece. Hidden withint he red brick base are wires, so those metal prongs carry the power throughout the set.

Anyway, once I plugged all five pieces together it felt solid, not easily tipped over. And that was all 5 pieces in a straight line. If you check out the gargoyle fence you can see it lacks the red brick solid bottom part, and the pieces look like the connect by other means. I'll bet that fence is not as sturdy. It does look good though!

I think I've seen bits of the Lemax range before in hobby stores in the US like Michael's and maybe Joannes Fabrics, but I'm not sure what stores are available in Malasia. It always amazes me how WWG has covered the globe with fans

Looking over this range, I really like the white gazebo, and can't help remembering one of my favourite stories from Knights of the Dinner Table when I look at it. I might have to check that out too... though it'll probably be too large.

Thanks for the size info, SG. This line interests me. Looking through the ehobby site, they've got pretty good prices on this brand, compared to some other sites. And I see a lot of items that would complement a lot of WWG sets .... which we should probably get back to talking about. Sorry to threadjack, Matt.
