I have only secondhand knowledge of it, but a friend of mine has it and thinks it is well worth it. I played the original when I went to visit him in Atlanta and thought it was quite a fun game. He recently told me he had the expansion and played a couple of games with his buds there.

It adds quite a few more characters you can play (characters are all pregens). It may double the number to choose from. That all by itself might be reason enough. You might get tired of playing with the same assortment. It also added more cards, more equipment, I believe a campaign of linked scenarios (might be wrong on that one), and some new rules. I think it also fixed a few minor problems by tweaking some rules.

Oh ... and it added more critters too!

Like I said, this is second hand, but his email is now only a few weeks back, and while I'm old and my memories of what he said are fading, he was quite pleased with it. I believe he actually used the phrase "Well worth the money". I do remember that it didn't do antyhing bad, because it was such a glowing account I specifically asked "Yes, but sometimes they come out with an expansion and there's something in it that breaks something else" and he replied "It was all good."

I do so like how they went about with making the board pieces modular, and have been trying to think of a way to do it combined with WWG models. Yeah I know we have the linx system, but I want something that is part of each board, instead of a piece that has to be placed in to two boards to lock them together.

Warhammer Quest used plastic arches that had a groove running down each side along the bottom. It was "just" wide enough to wedge the cardstock edge of the floor tile in for a snug fit. You could bump it all day and it wouldn't come apart. Their cardstock tiles were slightly thinner than illustration board (not just thin sheets of cardstock).

Now, you couldn't pick it up because gravity was enough to make some work loose, but it was a terrific system for holding pieces together on a tabletop.

Those were fantastic. I bought extras I was so impressed (the main game came with something like 10 of them, but I wanted to be able to make large dungeons and not have to remove any from rooms long since passed. I can't find them in their online store, but their store is quite strange. You need to know exactly what some old bit is called for the search to work. Might be worth a call to mail order to see if they are still available. I have piccys of some, perhaps I should upload them?

They used the same technique for their plastic Necromunda bulkheads. But those had a groove on three sides, and a unique bit across the top that allowed plastic panels to interlock there, so you could build multi-story structures. They are still available (because I remembered they were called bulkheads), and for cheap if you ask me ($1 each, bought in sprues of 6 for $6).

Could be quite useful with Platform Commander.

I've tried to devise something like the plastic archways to grip two flat tiles and hold them well, but so far I'm not happy with the results.
