Due to certain complaints made in this and another post I'm editing this post in black same as the first post in this thread, highlight to read, though not as graphic as the other, this one does mention connections with the first post so I'm going to do this to appease any hard feelings that might be out there, or to help keep those who have weak stomachs from getting too curious.

Jeez, woke up this morning, scratching my other cat behind the ear, when I find the exact same type of infection caused by wounds related to a catfight...at least I caught this one before it went into a life threatening stage for him, and this one was quick and easy, there was an easy to find entry wound, and no infection this time, so there was none of that horrible smell that happened with the other.

I'm glad I'm the type to notice little things like this, I couldn't imagine if I hadn't been able to help one, or missed this newest one...losing both cats would have really depressed me. I pass this on to anyone with cats, if they get wounded, and you notice it, keep it open and clean till there is no sign of swelling, these wounds are minor, but can lead to serious life threatening problems. In this case there was only one little entry wound, surrounded by about a half dozen light scratches, but that's all it took was that one little entry wound, about the size of a hole that can be made by a single claw. I inspect my cats regularily as they are indoor/outdoor cats and they are more likely to come home wounded, not that an inspection requires anything but scritching and petting, most times you'll notice any abnormalities quite quickly, if you find a wound, watch the area around it for swelling. If you notice swelling, finding the entry wound is usually as easy as applying pressure to the swelling, the entry wound will break open easily from even light pressure in most cases if you find the infection fast eneogh. Drain the wound and watch it, a standard method similiar to keeping wounds on humans clean is all you'll need, something to clean the wound (peroxide or something similiar), and something to clean up any mess. You'll only have to go as far as I did in my first post if there is a serious infection, if you can stand to do something like that to your cat.

I'm happy your cat is better, it takes a lot out of you when they get hurt. A year ago my cat got an injurey fighting like that, she's a one eyed cat now. It just about broke my heart to have that done.
