The Man Who Would be King - I don't know if it really qualifies as a 'movie of gaming interest' or not, but I do know that every time I see it I want to run a game...

Caine and Connery play two 'adventurers' in search of fortune. A very good film to watch if you are of a Victorian frame of mind.

The Man Who Would be King is a superb film, and I agree... it always makes me want to game as well... definitely one of my favourites.

Skull Island + Skull Cove = Pulpy Goodness!

The Auld Grump, does anyone else remember the interview with Peter Jackson before the Fellowship of the Ring came out? King Kong poster on the wall, statue of King Kong on the bookshelf, statue of King Kong in the corner, paperweight of King Kong on the desk... What a huge surprise it was when he announced that he was going to be filming a remake of King Kong...

Another one to add to the list would be the TV mini-series . A story based in the time of the Viking kingdoms. I found it to be very well done, even the special effects. Heh, it was a two part mini-series I just watched this weekend.

Hiya all

Just thought I'd say that i've just picked up a couple of classic films really cheaply from my local Tesco. I got Willow and the Dark Crystal. haven't seen them for ages and am really looking forward to the time when i've got a spare couple of hours to watch them (it will be after i've watched lord of the rings as i still haven't seen the 2nd and 3rd films).

Anyway, just thought i'd let you know that they were out there and cheap.

I read the trilogy that was supposed to finish the Willow story, wow did they ever make the continuation of that storyline depressing, and very different from what I expected, I was not expecting what came at the end. Made great RPG ideas for some of my games, but I won't ruin the storyline for those that havn't read them yet . Btw, those are still two of my favorite movies Mr Blackhammer

I very much enjoyed Dark Crystal, though the fact that a sequel is in the works fills me with dread. Labrynth was another of my favorites.

Willow on the other hand I could have lived without. (I really love Alora Danon, so I am going to hand her off to the first person I fnd hanging in a pillory, because there is no greater testament to a man's good nature... ) I think that was the first movie by George Lucas that I ever really disliked. Too bad it was not the only one.

And a movie that I know there will be people who disliked it - Pumpkinhead. (The original, not the sequels.) For some reason it made me want to run a non-mythos game of Call of Cthulhu.

Wow. I've been watching the recent A&E Horatio Hornblower series (with Ioan Griffud who does a really good Hornblower), and I have to say they are awesome. If you've got a Maiden, but you're not quite sure how to use it, watch those and and watch Master and Commander.

What is interesting about HH is that they commissioned the building of an old ship of the line specifically for the show. Fascinating stuff.
