Let me show my age real fast by saying that my oldest miniature game I own is... Mage Knight, which is about four or five years old. I'm still bitter by Wizkid's horrid handling of the game, ultimately leading to it's early demise.. Hopefully they will bring it back in year or two like they said (I doubt it)

First Mini's combat was the original (from 1973) Chain Mail by none other than Tactical Studies Rules. (TSR).

By Allah I keep forgetting how old I am.

My oldest mini's that I actually still have are from a Set that Citadel Miniatures put out from 1978. Can't remember the names of the set, but you can check them out .

There are some Star Frontiers in there as well, but the goofy goblins and a wizard and a few others are from this set.

You can see the very I ever used (and it has not lasted the ages). He was made from an Avon lipstick sample with Tamiya 35mm German soldier arms and packs. We had home made swords (from melted plastic pounded out while it was still plyable. We had our own party like this, then the monsters we would put glue on then rub them on my friends Dog bed to make them hairy.

Big monsters were made of large lipstick pieces with clay as the arms or legs and sometimes heads.

ha ha ha ha ! i have finished moving in AND sorting trough my gear, still no set up as yet tho. but all my minis are sorted and ready to set up. just need to put my desk back together. ah well that is for tomorrow.

having looked through all my games tho, i have found a copy of second ed werewolf the apocalypse!
the one with the cut out scratches in the front cover.
not a mini game i know but still pretty old( relativeley speaking.
