Of the two dozen or so geomorphic Sewer sections I made only five still survive.

Some were damaged by humidity, a few got played with by children (the player who has the place we play Mordheim at has two little girls), but mostly they got used to death. Enough so that the group wants me to print up a new batch, and this time they will help in the assembly.

Given how much they got used this may well be a time to have quantity over quality in regards to construction.

So this is a saga that has a happy(ish) ending.

Hubby moved a bunch of my sci-fi stuff in front of the storeroom window while he was working in there, and forgot to move it back. By the time I found out about it, the sunlight had faded them something terrible. Strictly speaking, the pieces are still usable, so if my players ask about it, I'm going to tell them exactly how it happened. :evil:

Ah with this one i can relate. i too am a parent of a rather mental 5 year old. although not world works piece, ( I havent bought on e yet... but mayhem looks like it will be my first) It was a scratch build stone tor with a ritual circle and all tha other im bellihments that accompany said types of project.
Barbies are indeed harder than polystyrene. :cry:

my blessed little daughter likes to play "giants rampaging through land"
and barbie is her club. so much fro involving the family. thankfully the mother half managed to rescue the rest of my terrain.

And i have silpt a can of a sample card bridge. but that wasnt good enough to considered i think.
( i can scratch build ok but this card thing is going to take a while to get used to for me.)
Ah well i am sure she cant get at them now they are in the closet and locked up. i hope.

after looking at what i typed above i must make some corrections.
The line reading "mother half" Should read "other half"
And "silpt" should read "spilt".

"Mother half to the rescue" sounds about right I think.

Having both a 6-yr old daughter and a 9-yr old son I can relate to both of you: children are by far the greatest hazards to my card models. Sometimes I wonder how so many survive their parents' wrath to reach adulthood.

I'm still working on the "touch my cardstock and die" principle. It helps that the offspring been building their own WW castles....

Oh, and we have no cats. Yet.

I am moving soon, too (well, in 5-8 months, when the new house is done being built), and faced with the possibility of moving twice; once to a temporary apartment (if we sell before the house is done, knock on wood), and then again to the new house.

Yikes.

Most all of my terrain is in Container Store Underbed boxes (two columns, both stacked to the ceiling), so it is somewhat safe. I'm seriously considering personally putting it all in storage as it is now (but I worry about it when the temp or climate changes), or maybe begging my friend (who has a spare guest room and currently no guests) to house it there so its all in a more climate controlled atmosphere.

Either way, no way I let the movers move it all. There are a few things they just don't move; our computers, my guitar, and my terrain collection.

Oooo Rat and Mice pee! What a wonderful smell.
I haven't lost a cardstock model to anything yet. *knocks on wood*. But I have lost some architectural school models to:
Leak in the roof
Vermin eating/ peeing
Roaches (waterbugs) eating all the glue, thus the model literally falling apart)
Sun fade! (mom liked one of mine so much she set up up in the window.. for years... did you know chipboard can also sun fade.

Hmm, ever have one of those mornings that makes you want to climb into the nearest bunker because you know it's going to be a bad one

. I was just getting ready to go to work and was putting on my shoes when my grip slipped and I kicked my full (XLarge) cup full of coffee right across my work table, into a small stack of manga, roleplaying books and three model projects, including the inn, stables and a smaller boat I was building. I don't even have time to see if any of it is salvageable, though I did make sure that the books and manga were cleaned off and set aside to dry. If I wasn't about to go to work I think I'd go off and get nicely drunk right about now :evil:

Edit: Add to that an inch thick stack of printouts I'm going to have to go through later to see if I can salvage
