So it's another year, and new teachers! All of my teachers are good, except my chemistry teacher.

Here's all the stuff you can't do in class - she will yell at you! (and I'm probably missing a lot of stuff!)

-Show up late (even just as the bell is ringing)
-move or adjust your chair while she's talking
-yawn
-look bored
-open your binder (the clicking noise irritates her)
-ask a question
-go to the washroom
-use any color of pen to take notes other than what color she tells you to use
-do a question in a different way than she shows you
-lean back in your chair
-If you forget to get a worksheet on the day it's handed out you have to pay her to get it later
-talk to anyone
-ask her to repeat something
-ask her to provide more examples

This class is absolutely torture She also says really weird stuff, like:
"Be sure to use a red pen that is the color of blood. If you don't, I might not be able to read it. Blood has a nice dark color to it."
To an East Indian student: "How would you feel if there were no more brown people in the world? I wouldn't like it. I like my little brown friends."
"I can't sit under a tree in Hawaii with SPF 50 sunscreen on and not burn."
"Don't go home and drink Vodka because you don't understand this concept. And don't do it just because I'm saying you shouldn't do it."

Although the class is quite entertaining, it's uh, kinda scary too! You never know when she might get mad at you or someone else for no good reason.

What is your opinion on this folks? I thought you would enjoy reading about all the things she does, at any rate. The class is scary while you're there, but hilarious after!

As a teacher myself (Middle School math and Science), I don't like to say bad things about teachers in general. Out of curiosity, any idea how long she has been teaching and in what subjects/grade levels?

She's been teaching 20+ years, and 7 years at my school, in jr high / sr high. She knows her stuff, but man, her style could use some improvement! And my first post is NOT at all an exaggeration!

Honestly, I'd like to sit in and see her in actuion for myself.

I remember some teachers that were just torture in school, but then I got a chance to go back and see the class again years later and realized it was not all that bad, it was really bad only due to the fact that I didn't want to be there...

That said, some of the things she is saying sound welll... Just odd.

And most of the rules I can see, but some of them (like no shifting in your chair) sound a bit over the top... Of course that's from someone who has a hard time sitting still for a long time, I have to get up and shift or else I fall asleep.

Yes, she really did say those things! I'm managing just fine, I've come to just accept her and follow her rules, and not make her mad. I'll manage ok, but I've certainly had better teachers!

In the UK she would not be teaching. Period.

This is not necessarily a good thing. Realising that not everyone has a good grip on reality early on will stand you well in life!

But there are enough things to get her "list 99'd" in your list that she wouldn't be teaching. And you'd be learning chemistry from someone who was probably 1 chapter ahead of you in the textbook...
