...I was winding up to play the "Black Spine" adventure campaign with my D&D group. We had been playing Dark Sun for two years already, and I had just started creating the hooks and tie-ins when our group disintegrated. I was really disheartened, because I loved th adventure and really wanted to run it.

It's almost 20 years into my own future. I am running a campaign with my daughters and I found a copy of "Black Spine" at a used book store. I immediately began some concept work for converting it to 4th edition and in a "standard" fantsy environment. I figured if I started it when they were 5th level, they would be 10th level by the end of the first adventue book. That would mean that books 2 and 3 would cover their entire paragon tier. w00t!

And then I realized that I would be running a very narrow focus to a gaming experience that I had intended to broaden their horizons and show them the possibilities of the game. So, after dreaming of running this mega-adventure for almost 20 years, I have turned my back on it (for now!) in the interest of making sure we all have a good time. I've got really mixed feelings about this, but I know it is the right thing. I *will* be using some of the material as mini-adventures and delves, so not all is lost. But the grand, sweeping majesty of the Lich Queen Of The Githyanki Invading The Prime Material Plane will not make an appearancee.
