Well, my adult Pathfinder group has convinced me to run Kingmaker - which I will admit that, right from the beginning, looks freakin' cool!

Any one here run it? Any landmines that I need to be careful of? How well does the mass combat and kingdom building work?

I run a 4e Kingmaker campaign but I only use the world (Golarion; best ever) and the Kingmaker kingdom rules. I wasn't thrilled with the surrounding adventure but I also prefer to write my own.

Heh, my roommate caught me painting my Vampire Counts Mantic Army, and asked 'those aren't for Kingmaker, are they?'

I don't blame them. The concept looks interesting.
And given the quality I've seen from Paizo in the past, I would assume they could do a pretty good job building a basic adventure around it.

I am considering using Slow advancement - reduced XP and treasure, but adding in short adventures to bring the final totals to the standard. Most likely 75%, leaving 25% to play with between each book. Mostly adding in some skulduggery.

First session was tonight, party meeting up, and the granting of the Charter.

Had fun, but no where near enough sleep. And now I am starving!

Ran the first session Friday before last, and only today realized my first landmine - I have no idea how much time it will take them to do out the first volume.

Six players, could have been seven, maybe eight, but I am capping it at six.

One paladin, who will likely multiclass with cleric*, one rough rider, one rogue leaning towards Arcane Trickster at a later point, one wizard, one witch (burn her! burn her!) and one ranger. Half the party took Rich Parents as a trait, most have horses and can ride.

First game took place at a buffet - a mistake on my part, since two of the players were embarrassed playing in public. (I have never had that problem, heck, I have played Baron Munchausen in bars. )

Last night I dreamed that I cooked up a boiled dinner with corned beef and cabbage for the next game. Even in my dream that was a mistake. I woke up laughing. (One of the good things about the way that I dream - sometimes it is like watching a movie, in this case a farce.)
