Okay, so I posted this in the other thread as well, but I think it'll get more attention here.
I would like a show of hands as to those who would be interested in a Traveller play by post game here on the forums.
Game system would be Mongoose Traveller. I would be running it, using the free secrets of the ancients campaign. You would not be expected to post any more than once per day. Please post below if you are interested.

EDIT: You are not expected to have any knowledge of the game system, but you would need to buy the core rulebook. The PDF is only $20 on RPGnow, http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php? ... s_id=56586, so it's not too pricey. EDIT: If you don't have the core rulebook, and don't want to buy it, don't despair! You can use the free OGL available on the Mongoose website! (Thanks to Scrubkai for reminding me of this )

Will the once per day requirement exclude weekends? Also, does one need any requisite knowledge of the game system? For instance, I have never opened a Traveler book before and only know it as similar to Firefly (which I don't even know how much truth there is in that statement).

Zenguy - That might be workable. From what I've heard, the mongoose rules are very similar to classic traveller, so if someone else made a character for you, we might be able to count you in
Guys I'm thinking if we could have characters made by Monday, that would be good. I do have a few guidelines and rules for character creation, but I'll start a separate thread for making characters and we can deal with those there.
So right now we have three participants. If anyone else would like to join, now is the time to say so. I will allow more people in (to a point of course) inbetween adventures.

From what I'm seeing Mongoose Traveler is released under the OGL license.
I don't have the core rulebook yet, and am debating if it's worth picking up to join.

But since it's under the OGL, there's a system reference document that is out there for free. Would we be allowed to play using only the SRD?
(It would eliminate the $20 buy in for those with money problems)

Matthew777 - To see what's in the SRD go to the Mongoose Traveler page and scroll down to the bottom. You will see a link called Developer's Pack under the Traveler Main Rulebook section. If you download the zip there's a word doc in there that's called "Traveller SRD v1.1.doc"

It seems to have most of the core rules but is missing some things like most of the careers and detailed stats on the weapons. But assuming we have some help from you and the other players, I think it should be workable...
