I saw it in 3D in an IMAX yesterday too. I recommend it highly, and this comes from someone who enjoys adventure movies but hates 99% of the drivel releasd lately, including every comic book movie ever released. I enjoyed Terminator 1 more than Avatar, but I hold T1 in the highest regard.

Well I am seeing it again tonight. My two brothers are wanting to see it so it seems that someone needs to hold their hand - younger and older (30 & 35). Actually my wife was in too much pain when I and my father saw it first time too sit through 2:45 odd of movie - so she will be my date tonight.

Actually will be great to see it again as I can watch the "world go by" as such

Just got back from a late show for my b-day...incredible!

This is one of those movies that sticks with you for awhile. Absolutely in my top 3 movies of all time. A must see in 3-D to realize the full scope of the movie.

Saw it in Imax three days ago and then just in 3D last night. Probably the most fun I have had at the theatre since the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I saw it recently in 3D with my parents and brother. I must say I haven't seen that much scenery porn since like... well ever. It was definitely a very visual movie to say the least. Though I must admit its moral was a bit too green for me and the natives were way to idealized for my tastes. None the less it was a very entertaining movie and the visuals more than made up for it.

I think Avatar's story line was basically willful simplicity. In order to anchor viewers in the immersive aspects of the place Cameron reduced the narrative down to some really core memetic story telling. That simplicity also allows the story room to breath so that we can ponder the whole "beings inhabiting various avatars" undercurrent of the script. You have Humans occupying brute force machine avatars and biological clones. On the other end of the spectrum you have the metaphysical concepts dealing with soul and or what "information" constitutes being. Or seen in reverse as the "Gia" earth soul inhabiting its various inhabitants and vice-versa.

When you look at it from that perspective there's actually a lot more going on here than generic hero and empire building themes. I really think he did this on purpose.

Finally saw it in the theater and really glad I caught it before it was gone. Great movie and I really liked it. The old 'big evil corporation backed by military force squashes everything in its path' is nothing new. The whole story was basically Dances With Wolves. That said; still a great movie.
