I know some of you guys have used Campaign Planners before, although my memory has failed me as to whom. But after loosing track of too many details in my Evernight game, I'm thinking about using one for my Pathfinder game.

Anyone have any suggestions, recommendations and stay-the-hell-away-froms? I know Paizo has one (and I like them and their stuff). Doesn't Green Ronin have one, too? Anyone else? Are they all d20 specific, or somewhat generic?

I have purchased two "Campaign Planners" and neither of them worked for me very well.

worked fairly well for me but is generic and not genre specific, it is also no longer supported.

What I would like to see is a Campaign Planner that can be used on and offline for a reasonable cost.

If you are talking about the PDF Campaign Planners published by Ronin Arts then the person mentioning them was most likely me - I helped write some of them. (So I might just be a bit biased.) I don't get any money for recommending them though - even if do you buy them. The bulk of the writing was done by Phillip Reed.

I use some of the forms a whole lot - I give out the Adventure/DM Review sheet after every scenario, and not just for D&D. Feedback, good and bad, is a big help. Adventure Outline, Campaign Outline, the various Events sheets, Weather, and the Encounter sheets are another bunch that can be used for multiple games, not just D&D. Other sheets do not see regular use in my games, but can help keep things organized.

While released under the D20 license about half of the sheets can be used in a more generic fashion.

If you are likely to be filling the sheets out on a computer then I would recommend getting the separate books - there is a fillable form for each sheet, which is missing from the Campaign Planner Deluxe. And since the three books put together cost exactly the same as the Deluxe edition....

Green Ronin has a Trure20 version available as well, which is here - I have not used this version though. While I have the PDF I also have this huge pile of the standard forms already printed out, and tend to grab those instead.

I also have to admit to being rather inclined towards the use of forms, and have been ever since the days of the first edition AD&D Dungeon Master's Design Kit. I also tend to create my own forms if there are none that quite work - some of the Call of Cthulhu pages in my Big Box o' Forms were written on a Commodore 64, way back when.... I find that doing so can help force form and function on my sometimes rather chaotic thought processes.

The Auld Grump

I use a combination of the excellent (and free ) (from rpgsheets.com) and parts of Campaign Planner 1 and 2 (see The Auld Grump's link above). They really help planning and tracking campaigns and individual encounters, and my adventures are definitely both richer, and easier to GM, now I'm using them.

Some of the forms in both the Storyteller's Notebook and the Campaign Planners do contain d20 stat blocks, but that hasn't been a problem - it is very easy to either ignore those blocks, or recreate the specific template with stat blocks for the system you're using.
I hadn't tried Campaign Planner 3 as it looks to be very d20 focussed. However, following The Auld Grump's comments above, I'll give it a shot - the GM feedback form, in particular, sounds like an excellent idea.

Yeah, CP3 is the most D20 focussed, with a majority being pretty much only useful for D20.

Exceptions are:
Weather sheets - weather happens, regardless of game system.
DM/Adventure Review - the sheet I use more than any other in the book. Pretty much any game will find this useful.
Creature of Legend - Replace the term Bardic Knowledge with the skill you feel appropriate).
Urban Events - Sometimes events that have nothing to do with the PCs just happen. Fires, floods, riots.... And while the events may have nothing to do with the PCs the opposite is not necessarily the case.
Starvation & Thirst and Suffocation & Drowning - like Weather, it does not rely much on system, just replace Constitution with whatever attribute is appropriate.

So my most used sheet is in my least used CP....

*EDIT* Downloaded Storyteller's Notebook. Oddly enough some of those sheets look almost exactly like some sheets I created for my home game. The creator of SN obviously stole them from the same source I did! The originals are part of the first edition AD&D supplement Dungeon Masters Design Kit - my favorite supplement for any edition of D&D. Even today I use the Chase sheet from that book - twenty years later!

SN is going into my toolkit right now! Thank you for sharing it.

*EDIT 2* And at least a few are brand new to me! I really like the Storyline and Development sheets - those are being printed out at this very minute. I have used the Chase sheet from the DMDK to similar effect, but these are better laid out. I think that I will share this on a few other forums that I frequent.

I got to Beta test the Keep and Character Sheet Designer and other than using I don't use anything else.
