i've bought this product prochima e30 clearwater wich is a bicomponent epoxy resin useful to create water effects in a diorama.

That being said my idea is to use it to create cool bases for miniatures.
I won't ask you how to mix since my test went preeeeety smooth, BUT i have few issues wich maybe you can help me resolve:

1) what can i use to seal the borders of the base and raise them enough? i've tried masking tape but the border becomes a little rough and less clear... i'm gonna try a trick next time: using a normal tape over 2/3 of a masking tape on the glue side, this way i hope i'll get smoother borders.... but if you have suggestions i'm really open!

2) i've managed using a toothpick to break almost all the bubbles but three, if there is a trick tell me otherwise i fear it's a problem of patience

3)after how much time i should try sculpting the surface? i've heard a nice trick to create a wave pattern is to use an hairdryer

4)Any idea what kind of colors i can use? i think washes from cytadel could work or maybe those to decorate glass (my aim is to create 3-4 effects: muddy water, toxic waste, blood, lava)

For building a dam around the base... try modelling clay, with maybe a little Vaseline around the upper and inner portion.

The bubbles... a lot harder. Poking them with toothpicks sounds like the way that I would do it. Maybe see if you can find a hat pin or stick pin of the others.

The other way to get rid of the bubbles is not practical, unless you have access to a vacuum chamber....

Also, how you pour the resin can reduce the number of bubbles as well. From what I've seen, you pour from a corner of the project with a very slow flow and let the resin flow through out the pour area. If you're pouring the resin in all over the space, you tend to get more bubbles that way.
