I would also be interested if this gets off the ground as I'm just starting to get back into D&D (see the "" thread). |

Well seeing as I last played it over 20 years ago, you can consider me a newbie, the more I learn about it the better I'll get. ![]() |

well before i get into background and what not, let me first give my schedule for playing. i can play pretty much any day of the week AFTER 8 p.m. central time. my son goes to bed at 8, and i wont be able to devote time to gaming until after then. but yeah, pretty much any night i can play after that. as for my background and experience...eh, i played 3.x dnd about 4 years ago and it was fun, but i played ONE time. after that i picked dnd back up around 2 years ago and have been dm'ing off and on using 4e exclusively. im not a player that has to have things a certain way, or have to be a certain character. im normally a fighter of some sort (tank) but i really dont care honestly. i just want to play. i'm cool with whatever setting/environment the DM will run, and ill just go with the flow. finally...although my experience with online dnd-ing is zero...ive been reading enough to know what tools everyone likes to use. i'm recommending skype for video chat if possible as typing everything out just isnt as personal. just my 2 cents here. what do you guys think about the schedule? thats my biggest concern as i know everyone has their own schedules and priorities. i'm just telling you what works for me. ![]() |

TWe'll work out the schedule, but later is better for me (and probably others due to potential time zone issues). I have gamed successfully with Skype many times so I concur with you on that point. I have been DM and players to groups with players from all around the world, and I can tell you this will be fun! |

Actually, looking back I had a sort of similar idea: . In it I talked about 'some sort of WWG D&D club', might be an idea. |

I don't think I'll be able to play, Central time is 6 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time which means that 8:15pm for you would be 2:15am for me. ![]() |

First, the above mentioned things are very valid points and I agree with all of them. Second, Maptool is a decent free program that the majority of online pen and paper gamers use. It is worth the slight learning curve. I would suggest using this and pair it with a chat/voice program, such as Skype, as you mentioned. Third, I live in AZ and have a young one myself. I will let you guys vote for a time and if it works for me, then I will join. If not...maybe next time. Fourth, play by post is an option that is much slower, but I prefer it to play-by-email. I have used one specific site for this (online-roleplaying.com) when I could not find a group to game with in person. |
