I really enjoyed the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, suffer through the first third of the book, and then you're hooked. I just finished Hunger Games, which I didn't think I'd like, but turned out to be a pretty good read. Circumstances combined to let me finish it the day I started it, and I have only done that a handful of times. |

Is free cheap enough? ![]() If so then has hundreds of public domain books that you can download in Kindle format that are free. There are some great authors and books available. You can browse the selections by either author name or book title. I was surprised at some of the books that were available from authors like H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, etc. The Amazon Kindle store has some good books available. They are all DRM'd, though, so will only work on the Kindle that they are registered to. ![]() I bought some of the Dragonriders of PERN books to re-read since it has been decades since I last read them. |

And don't forget Baen - big , and other free libraries scattered around the web. Legal ones! (Some you may need to convert to Mobi to use on a Kindle. Calibre can do that no problem.) Baen does not use DRM - files can be ported from one reader to another. Also take a look at the past issues of their 'webscriptions' - bundles of books. I have spent more at Ben than any other e-book seller. The Auld Grump |

My sister just got me a Kindle (^_^) She digs independent authors and because I like Sci-Fi, Fantasy and a bit of horror she recommended . It's got some rough spots, but I dig it! |

I love Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. Comic fantasy at it's best. The first book is The Color of Magic followed by The Light Fantastic, all in all there's about 30, but each one is an individual story so you can really read them in any order. I've decided to buy a kindle just as soon as I can get the money, so this thread is of much interest to me ![]() |
