So, Gav Thorpe is doing - a new fantasy pirate skirmish game for Black Scorpion.
I have to be honest about the Black Scorpion pirate minis... they all look like they have bad teeth and stink of sweat. (Yeah, I like 'em.) Possibly my favorite pirate minis.
Sadly for proud owners of the Maiden there are no rules for ship to ship.
Pirates with no ship rules? Ummmm, why bother? Not having ships kind of misses the point, eh?
Looks good otherwise, but come on....
Also, Gav Thorpe is forever linked in my mind to the least balanced 3rd ed. WH40K army for the Space Marines, the Blood Angels - lots of flavor, but a skilled player could turn the 'weakness' into a real strength. (Oh dear, my assault squad can't shoot this turn, they're too busy charging into combat with a bonus.... What a shame.
) I played Dark Angels, who's weakness would sometimes cause us to lose games because of the roll of a die. (Let's hunker and shoot lads! Who cares if that means we sit here in a foxhole rather than take the objective! Anyone got any nines?)
I not only nurse a grudge, I raise it through childhood, then make sure that it can make it into a good college.
