is having a 50% off sale on their PDFs until the end of March. Some of their material is fantastic - A Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe is one of my all time favorite gaming supplements. While written for 3.X it actually contains almost no rules, and really does not care what system you use. The is worthwhile in its own right - give it a look see. (One caveat - there are first and second editions of the book - both are good, but the second edition is both larger and more expensive.) The entire line of Magical Society books is very good, and well worth getting in PDF. If you are playing 3.X then Beast Builder can be very handy - it needs a little tweaking to work with Pathfinder, but should work well. Monster Geographica is a series of monster books for 3.X, broken up by terrain type, then sorted by CR. Probably my most used monster reference aside from the core Monster Manual/Bestiary and the Advanced Bestiary by Green Ronin. I have not touched their 4e stuff, but they have not disappointed me otherwise, so I suspect that they are of good quality. The Auld Grump |

Why do these things always come along when I'm broke? Wait, I'm always broke, that may have something to do with it... |

Their Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe is great. What's your assessment of their other Magical Society books: - Ecology and Culture? - Beast Builder? - Silk Road? |

I used to use Beast Builder every time I statted up a new critter. I think I still do, I just don't read the book while doing so anymore. ![]() Ecology and Culture is best used when world building - I used it when working on a Crusades era world using Medieval Player's Manual. Never got to run that world and ended up keeping my 1630s game running instead. Good book, but focused on world building - if you are not creating your own world then it is less useful, but still a good read. It is all about looking at how thing interconnect. While it may not have helped me much, it did codify some of what I had been doing for years. A great book. Perhaps the best companion volume for MMS:WE. Silk Road is the only one I have not used at all - still worth reading, but I was more concerned with the turmoil of war in the Germanies at that time. I need to dig it out and reread it - it might become handy in Kingmaker. They do a good job - I can't point out any duds. ![]() The Auld Grump |
