I just got the first issue of Pathfinder from my subscription - The Haunting of Harrowstone, part one of The Carrion Crown - an adventure about the haunted remains of a fire gutted prison..
While intended to invoke the atmosphere of Poe, Shelley, and Bierce it instead reminds me of the work of another master - . Maybe a bit of some of the recent Dark Casle movies (a studio named after that same William Castle) and the more genteel Hammer horror movies of the sixties and seventies. (Certainly I can picture one of the NPCs being played by Peter Cushing.) Thirteen Ghosts, Legend of Hell House, maybe a touch of The Haunting. (The 1963 version, thank you very much.)
Looks like fun, for the prison I think that Himmelveil Sewers would work quite well - dank, dark, and claustrophobic.
