I am not suprised at all on this one. I noticed that when WOTC took over Heroscape that they just repackaged the DDM's into the sets.... WTF?!? Why would I pay for something I already owned. So my purchases of HS stopped cold.... glad I could actually find HS stuff at a local boardgame store, but when I noticed they were all DDM's I already owned.... And besides.... TSR used to produce their own MINI's (Metal) and then stopped.... so it's tradition for D&D to have Mini's to support the game... then not have them. Of course using them for their D&D based board games will cause the board games to sell, just so people can get the MINI's. |

The market is saturated with their minis. I pretty much don't want any more myself. How many dragons do I need? Trolls? etc. |

So.. to the DDM prices on Ebay go UP or DOWN based on this? The speculators will scatter. Those who collect will want to complete their collection. Players probably won't care too much. I really like some of the minis but always thought it was too expensive for a random pack. I'd rather pay $20 for metal minis I really like and paint them. Or buy a $5 metal mini and pay someone 15 bucks to paint it decently. I'll have my painted metal minis for 100 years.. the plastics are unlikely to make it 10. So.. a question and an opinion... I think I'll wait and see if people put up their collections for sale. I DO like some of the 'huge' minis which would be expensive as heck to buy in metal. Also, I just KNOW the 3d printer guys are trying to get higher resolution on their devices and at least some of them are gamers. Within a few years you'll be printing your miniatures in color after configuring them with just the right gear and poses for your adventures. That should be fun! In any case, So long DDM.. I hardly played ye. |

I would have purchased tons of them if they weren't random selections. The price of singles is way to high for the quality. I would much rather buy a metal miniature. If they sold packs of kobolds, goblins, orc, etc... I would have jumped at it. The price was too much and you were most likely not going to get what you wanted. |

reaper mini's are so freakin expensive though. yes they are nice and high quality, but basically i have to pay $5 or more to get a mini shipped to me unpainted. then i have to spend 2-3 hours painting the thing...and now i have ONE miniature. whereas with dnd mini's i could pay $10 or so and at least 4 mini's or go to trollandtoad and buy some for 99 cents. i understand the people that are collectors and want all of the mini's possible, but for someone like me who just wants something to represent the monsters, $5-9 is a lot pay for one guy. i feel like im getting ripped off a little with the random-ness of DDM, but at least i get more than one guy while i'm getting ripped off
