I don't know if you've seen my standees. I buy singles as well and/or they are given to me by friends. Ebay has been great to collect the clix I want. I just pop em off the bases and rebase them anyway. Those clix bases are unwieldy and they keep changing the rules every 10 minutes. Who needs Heroclix when I have Champions 5th ed? |

I agree, with the caveat that the color codes used in most (all?) clix do greatly expand the possibilities. I think the whole clix game model is aimed at people who fit in the space between checkers and RPGs - people for whom one 30-page rulebook is no problem, but twelve 300-page books plus a college-ruled notebook for each mini is a bit much. I fall into this category mainly because the only people I can get to play a game around here are people who want to pick up a game pretty quickly (Munchkin and Space Station Zemo [ http://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/42938 ... le-version ] have been my most frequent hits, but Mechclix gets some attention too). *edit* Plus, having click bases gave me the chance to cut off some crap IndustrialMechs and use their dials (with a little Fireworks magic) to cleanly stat my homebuilt dropship's turrets. I know, you can do that more easily with stat sheets, but I like the fiddly bits ![]() |

When the clixs first came out I liked the idea, until I played a few games. Having the info on the base of a figure was annoying, you had to look at the figure to get its stats and abilities. This was from some one who never played any war or skirmish games, the whole clix base turned me off haing to refrence the base, I much perfered the cards put ot by other systems, as it was right in front of me and i would have to go get the figure to look at the base, moving it etc, I just picked up the 9 card sleeve and looked at the card in my hands. Never looked back at a clix based game after i found card or other notation based systems. I have grabbed some figures to use in other games but very much dislike the clix bases, to fiddly. |
