By time I got there it was a thread complaining about spouses, children and bored gamers.
I guess I missed the message about the table.

Let's focus on the table for this thread then, yes?
Now, back to the question I asked, did anyone here actually see the table in-person at Gen Con?
Sound off please if you did.

Yes, yes, it is expensive for those who want to focus on that, but how about the utility?
Anyway, I want to know if the table was as imposing and impressive in-person as it was on the WEB page.
Anyone?

One of the forum goers did get to see it in action. I agree that the cost will always be a talking point but in my eyes nothing eclipses the beauty of the table as a whole. I would get one of these and might do if I could get one made here (under the company's instruction) and if I had a permanent place for it (which I do not at the moment).

I heard the owner creator interviewed on a podcast the other day and his argument to the price is that a computer gamer will update their machine every two the three years spending up to two thousand dollars (or more) each time - A wargamer/boardgamer spending ten thousand dollar on their "platform" once and will be done with it.

I like his thought process on that. I know it just a selling point but it's a valid point. My wife loves it (not a gamer) and the only thing holding it up is the two above facts.

I would love it if whomever saw it in-person would describe their experience here.
The action of the doors, drawers, etc.
How it felt to lean on it?
Did they let you play a game of your choice on it?
What style of sitting object did they recommend?
Or is it a standing-preferred surface like a Rumsfield Desk?
Other things like those that one has to know before one buys an expensive piece of furniture.
With only one showroom (somebody's facility 20 minutes outside Seattle) and only one roadshow demo (Gen-Con), I find it difficult to put up that sort of money.
I mail order lots of stuff, but furniture is not a category I have ever done.
Gee, from Indianapolis to Seattle there was oodles of opportunities to demo the table if they had turned the trip from a four day rush to a two-to-three week tour.

Again, who has experienced this table?

The Podcast is the D6 Generation "Special" GenCon edition PodCast.

I heard a cool idea.
If you want the table to have a more art deco feel the legs should be Atlases.
Any other suggesions for changes to make the table more art deco?

I still like the best of all I've seen, so much so that sometime after the first of the year, I'm going to design and build my own!

I've already been collecting the spice balls that they used for their message delivery system. Provided he had ever finished his blueprints and made the cost resonable, I would have bought his plans. But since he hasn't I'll be doing my own. Course, I'm going to make some changes, like instead of the dice pits that he has at each station, I'm going to build in dice towers.

Plus some other things as well. By the way, the Sultan is nice too, but 9+ grand is more than I care to spend!
