My grandson came over yesterday with a book he was reading ... science fiction, and it just pleased me so much that he was so captivated by the genre. Also, I had not known of that series and he proceeded to tell me all about it ... suggesting that I should really read all the books and get the movie. ![]() ![]() ![]() So I ordered the movie, Eragon, through Netflik. In a few days, I'll be watching it with my grandson. I am so very pleased his mother and father came to live here. So pleased, there are not the words sufficient enough to express it. The day before that he was explaing to me about a particular bug's life cycle. The bug in question, laying on my patio, looked very ugly when I first discovered it there. It started to look rather beautiful to me as he told me all about it. Strange that is. ![]() |

That's awesome. How old is he? I can't wait for my kids to get there. Oh, if he's interested in audio scifi, you should check out clonepod.org (depending on his age) - it's a kids' SF podcast. Sadly, I think it's defunct now (no new episodes since 2-27-09), but there are 28 episodes available. There's also the ratings filters on escapepod.org so you can get kid-friendly episodes (currently 52 G-rated episodes there, 153 PG-rated). *edit: I really recommend the Squonk stories (). Eragon is an OK movie, but it's got nothing on the book. They changed/cut a lot more than is usual for a film adaptation, but it's visually pleasing and pretty fun. Definitely read the books; I'm rereading them now & I love them. I especially love the way magic works in Eragon's world. |
