Just going over the adventures that I have run over the last few years, thinking about the general locations that I have used. I do a lot of urban adventures - where the entirety of the scenario takes place in the city, or occasionally in the city's sewers.... Next are the wilderness and travel adventures - where the adventure and/or most of its encounters take place in the wilderness, or on the road from point A to point B. Dungeons... I don't use much. (Most recently I used , and the chalk tunnels beneath which don't really count, because they are real places....) Where do your adventures take place? The Auld Grump |

Mountains can be fun. I remember running "To Scale the Dragon" which was an adventure set on climbing up a mountain. It involved simple dog sledding mechanics for 3/4 of the trip up then climbing to the top. Fun dog sled battle on the way back down when the party was ambushed! A high speed chase with combat between dog sledding teams was a great change of pace from most combat encounters. |

Currently my PC's are trying to escape a city that has just been overrun by Yuan-Ti. They'll then do a stop off as slaves in a Gladitorial areana setting. Eventually it'll be into a desert, and then into a Magical Ziggurat. I've been trying to mix it up as often as possible. |
