Just downloaded the new Savage Worlds setting - Weird War 2, and its bloomin' brilliant!!! http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_i ... rers_id=27 Evil Nazi Occultists controlling SS Zombies and Werewolves and a load more pulpy-horror-creatures up against your band of Commandos/Paras/Rangers etc. You can even base a campaign on a Bomber crew doing raids over Germany, a PT-boat crew running messages and patrolling around the Solomon Islands.... so many options, since there are full rules for vehicles, dogfighting and naval combat!! Having so many ideas right now, using the WWG Industrial Warehouse, the Cathedral, and Vampifan's Semi-D Houses (respect!) for adventure terrain. Planning to use my huge stockpile of 1/72 WW2 miniatures, with additions from for the mandatory undead opponents. Would have liked to use 28mm figures (there are some really luvverly Weird War figures in that scale) but the expenditure is too much.... so since I have a ton of the old 1/72 plastics, I need to compromise... and also make the terrain a bit smaller than usual. Hehehehehehe...... tonight I just know I'm gonna be digging through my miniature mountains to find those old boxes of 1/72s, and prepare my order lists for Elhiem. Been waiting for this a long time, and I am not disappointed. Happy chappy....... except for the fact that I have recently printed out the Cathedral sheets full size............. ![]() |

Well, it is an RPG setting book, so you will need the SW rules (not expensive!), and because its SW its very easy to use as a skirmish or tabletop game (with or without the SW Showdown rules - currently available as a free Beta version). Although the main focus is Weird, in having Zombies, Wehrwolves, Mummies etc running around, there is nothing stopping you from using it for plain WW2 gaming. They have information for the major powers, including a good range of equipment and vehicles, and have a nice, simple system to incorporate promotions and medal awards. The mission generator is also pretty decent. Like I mentioned earlier, you can play any theatre, and have the players part of any branch of the armed forces (I watched "They were Expendable" over the weekend and am now tempted to run a demo with the players as a PT-Boat crew ![]() Oh....... and I'm back to looking at 1/72 scale for this since after a little checking of my figures, 15mm seems a bit small to use for any form of RPG game...... even an RPG/Tabletop hybrid game like I'm planning on running. |
