I was repairing a valve manifold for an old water distribution system once. The casing was mounted on a pedestal that was about 3" (76mm) high. After the casing was removed I noticed a small folded up piece of oiled cloth laying in the cavity. Inside the cloth was a 1932 penny. I put a 1977 penny in the cloth with the 1932 penny for the next person. Almost like Geocaching.

The only other strange place I have found some money was in 1965. I was walking across a very, very large field and found a $1 bill hung up on a piece of grass. It was basically in the middle of nowhere, but it wound up in my pocket.

This isn't about finding money; its about losing it. When the Susan B dollar was issued I was determined to hang on to the first one I got. Thirty minutes later I dropped it into the coin slot of a soda machine for a pepsi ...urrhhg!!!! It was the same size as a quarter. Dumb!!
