Post subject: | Halloween!!!!!!!!!!! |
Since last years Halloween SUKKED big time, my worst in years, I'm putting in more of an effort in '09. Today I picked up the last store-bought bits for....the man from room five!! it will be kind of home brewed on a really low budget.... Plastic V mask: $8.00 - It's actually quite a good repro with a decent stock paint job. I'm adding black fabric behind the eye-holes, the area around them is the base mask colour so i will have to touch them up, it looks weird. Zorro hat: $6.85 - The hat is dead-on and dead cheap. It came with a Zorro mask which I don't need but will keep around. No mods needed, but it is kinda flimsy. Black Wig: $5.00 - Cheap b@stard that I am, I bought the childs size wig, the adult ones were $10. Straight black hair that is already getting tangles... Black Cape - $9.95 - Big money for this one! It's a "The Count" cape, I'll have to remove the goofy stand-up foam filled collar. It's also kinda cheap and flimsy but it will do... Remaining Bits: Belt - Not sure how to do this one, have to get some pleather and bodge it up. Knives - Cardboard and tin foil here I come! I'll have to make six of them. Tried to find some toy knives at the dollar store, nothing was really that close so I'll have to build them, no problem. I'll have to figure out a way to attach them to the belt, the original film version had sets of metal clips. Shirt, Pants - Black and black. Nearly anything will do here... Gloves - Cheap shiny gloves and some pleather extensions if I have time. Boots - No jackboots handy so I will have to get or make some boot toppers. The "pirate" versions that seem to be everywhere cost up to $20, surely I can do better than that... Rose - Dollar store again. I will probably end up working....AGAIN...on the actual night but I can at least skulk a bit and have a few laughs. So what are YOU going as???? |

I keep meaning to do the Hellboy thing, but always forget until October...and considering I want to build the Hand of Doom from scratch (since all the good props cost well over $100) its going to take some doing... Been reading Dan Abnetts series about Gaunt's Ghosts and keep thinking I could do Bragg really well...but nobody would know who the hell I was! |

A few years ago... (ok I lied... many, many, many years ago) I want as Grayson "Death" Carlyle.......... What a waste that was. NO ONE, even those played Battle Tech and had read the novels knew who I was. ![]() Too bad those books didn't make it into a movie. ![]() Then at least some people would have known who I was.... ![]() Oh well. At least I can bring out my super kewl monster dude who when someone walks near him he screams "Happy Halloween" in a kiddie voice. And that means Xmas is right around the corner and my is coming out for display on my desk at work! |

Once I was at a HUGE costume party and one guy went as Matt Wagner's "Mage", blue bat and all. I stopped him to compliment him on his original choice, out of the 3000+ at the gathering he said I was the ONLY one who knew who he ws! |

If they don't know who Bragg is, you introduce them to the books! Great read, btw. But then Dan Abnett is my favorite Black Library author. |

Yes, dress up as your alter ego and spread terror on the streets...it's always so revealing to see what people dress as. |
