(Assuming you are in America...) You can request to stay in the hospital. The only catch is you may end up getting stuck with more bills. Never forget your insurance company works for you and you are paying both them and the doctors so don't take any answer you don't like. If they start giving you crap about you HAVE to do this or that you tell them No, and I'll happily go pay someone else to do your job. You can switch health insurance companies, you can go to a different docotr in the same facility, or you acn go to a totally different facility. You don't have to be a victim; but the trade off is money... I've had my share of doctors visits and proceedures. Life is too short to deal with docotors and insurance companies you don't like... for ANY reason. I've dropped doctors just because I didn't like their attitude despite their apptitude. If you really think she would be better served with some post-op care at a hospital then request it and don't take No for an answer but don't go in blindly; make sure you understand what you will be on the hook for as far as bills. |

When it comes to trying to protect my sister I have to deal with her spouse. It is difficult to say the least. My brother and I have been in deep discussion of our concerns for our sister. Her husband has agreed to let us provide her with an ambulance to bring her home. Its a two hour trip in their truck otherwise. We have also arranged for a recently retired post surgical nurse (references already checked) to be with her part time. I will be with her as well. It is the best we could negotiate with him. Thank you for the information you posted. I passed that on to my brother. And to my sister's husband. He believes steadfastly it is unneccessary for her to have any hospital stay. I will be very pleased, beyond words, if that is the case and everything goes smoothly. Her recovery means so very much to everyone. |

Thank you all for your supportive best wishes for my sister. They pinpointed the complication to be a reaction from the bone paste. They have started her on steroids through a needle in her hand. If all goes well she should be able to come home wednesday. Her throat almost closed. I was so glad I had the nurse there with her. If this works then she'll continue with steroid pills once home for 36 days, and recover completely. I can hardly wait to have her home ... smiling and talking. She can really motor on in conversation. She is 12 years younger than I and 18 years younger than my brother. When she was a baby I remember being very excited for when she'd start talking. She hasn't stopped since. ::grinning:: |
