I saw it... I didn't like it. For the cinematography.. The set design was extremely good, and the special effects were excellent, the acting was good, and I wouldn't complain about the action sequences. The sound was poor. muffly outdoors.. echoy indoors.. The sets (which look great) are made of plywood. You can only tell by the sound. I found that the story waffled long and slow. I'm not really sure where it ended.. I mean I spent 2 hours to find out that there is a bad place, where bad guys rule, and a hero will now go forth and do great things. So what. The problem is the story and the writing. I found that the story had way too much posturing and pontifying, which really goes no where and does not progress the story. I would rate it better than D&D's first movie, but that isn't saying much. (In that movie I was particularly incensed with its use of fighting.. Like since when did a Rogue ever take a fighter head on.. ever? First level and the fighter rolled a 1 for HP?) The second D&D movie was much better, but it had a truly sucky budget. |
