*SOMEWHAT OFF TOPIC* The scariest example of initiative in a wargame was for Space: 1889 - The Soldier's Companion. Both sides roll initiative, adding Coolness Under Fire to the result. Winner takes his turn. Both sides roll initiative, adding Coolness Under Fire to the result.... Elite troops could roll right over green troops, taking turn, after turn, after turn.... Good price on Armageddon! Congrats! I find that I still prefer 4th ed. of WH40K - I had an allergic reaction to the return of the horribly inaccurate blast weapons. I liked getting a To Hit roll with the silly thing! I didn't bother reading further into the rules, that was all I that needed to know. The Auld Grump |

I've actually been thinking of going and reading 2nd ed again. Been so long I forget whats changed. Did not even realize 5th did the no chance of a direct hit thing. Guess I glanced over that part. Must agree, that is pretty lame. Space: 1889, though, just sounds PAINFUL. |
