Haven't done any card stock modeling in a few weeks but I did spend all weekend cutting, scoring, folding, and painting =) My wife and I are putting together an 'enchanted forest' birthday party for our daughter. So we've been making props out of large appliance boxes. Also made some 3d mushrooms out of expanding foam, sculpting medium, and buckets. We did get to use an idea from WWG! We wanted to make a tree trunk out of a refridgerator box. I showed my wife a keg I had done from Interworks: Pubs and Inns that basicly made an octagon cylinder. So I measured out and scored 4 more times on the box, painted a base coat of dark brown, dry brushed on a coat of light brown, cut a hole and now it's a tree trunk the kids can play in. Cut some branches and they both were cut with slits so they can be mounted perpendicular. Then with some green crate-paper streamers it should be complete! Lots of painting left to do =P I'd say only half of the painting is done and the 4.5' tall unicorn will take a lot of time to paint. |

Most Awesome. I never knew I was a cardstock finatic even when my kids were little. I used to work at a place that had those huge cabinet bigscreen tv's. I make those into houses and forts for the little ones. Looks like the little one loved it! |

This is very very cool - the tree rocked and the cupcakes just kicked. I hope you backup your shots so you can pull them out for her 21st. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

Lookin' good. If you want to stick to using appliance boxes and make some real big mushrooms you could use the information from the Dome Calculator to make the caps and then make some big stems that some one could enter. |

Thanks everyone! The tree and big mushrooms were a favorite of mine as well; along with the unicorn. There's almost as much time into the unicorn as there is the tree ![]() |
