After about 6 years (I do think it's more like 7) I have the urge to paint some figures once more. Now instead of going to my mound of unpainted figs I, being a Magpie Gamer ordered some (about 75 of them). I have them based on 1/4" washers that have been pva glued with sand/rock then undercoated (I actually undercoated the washers first then glued figs with strong glue). I got the Foundation Paint set & Wash Set from GW (third party discount of course) as I have read good reports of easy coverage. So what is next? What order do I paint - clothing inwards or flesh outwards? Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

I tend to paint from areas of most coverage to least coverage so it's easier to fix mistakes. |

Ditto, unless I'm really revved up to do a specific section on a model, have a color from another model ready to go, or I'm trying to get the eyes out of the way before I do flesh. If I'm not fully decided on colors, I'll start with what I'm most certain about and build my palette from there. |

I'm in the process of getting close to competing all of my Descent minis. I found the best way, and keep in mind a lot of my work is assembly line (due to having to paint 4-10 of the same mini), is to paint from the inside out. Skin -> Clothes -> Armor -> Weapons -> Capes/Cloaks. Some simple tips: - Use good paint (I stopped using my cheapo paint and only use GW). HUGE difference! - Buy a few good brushes. Again, I bought some GW brushes at my FLGS and use them 90% of the time. another HUGE difference. - Learn how to "dip". My quick and average paint jobs turn into gold when I use the "dip" method. Let me know if you need more info on dipping. I think we covered it pretty well in another thread in this forum. |

I have set up a transportable paint station with a wet pallet sitting in front. I have kicked out my first figure in around 7 years. He is a test subject. Aim to do some more soon. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

Coo! That's a lot more organized than I am. I just dab a dot of paint on the top and shove em in a box in the drawer. |

So far the test looks good! I can see good, believable variation in the fur and other surfaces. |

Thanks guys. I have done three white mice (so far) just to mix it up a little and to work out doing white/grey fur. I have a lot of these suckers to do yet so I will have time to really go to town with different base colour furs. The suck thing is that I had a number (about 30) last gen of GW pots that had a good amount of base colours that I would like to replace. I want the red jacket to be more Robin Red - like a BeefEater Royal red. I must say doing 15mm is so so nice - frack 28-30+ too much real estate to fiddle with. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

I think it was a bad batch or just an old can. Photo time: Frosting is very evident on the shields and shafts. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |
