Post subject: | Garage Sale Find |
A friend saw these at a garage sale so I had them pick them up for me. They also came with 2 books: Warhammer 40K Battle Manual and Waaargh Orks Of course I don't paint or war game so I don't know what I'll do with them. But how could I leave them at a garage sale? I'm not sure what all of them are, but there are space marines, chaos marines, orks, dwarves, a messed up tank, some generic fantasy ones, and some mechwarrior. And a macross super valkyrie, which might be part of mechwarrior. |

That Orks book is quite a collector's item, or at least it was back when I was playing 40k. I bet you could unload it on eBay for a nice chunk of change. Judging from the books and a few of the models, I'd say these look to be minis from 2nd ed. 40k circa the early 90s. I have no idea if older models are more or less valuable than new ones, but given the extortionate prices of modern Games Workshop product, I'd bet you have maybe two or three hundred bucks worth of minis there. Assuming you got them garage sale cheap you could really clear some serious money. Of course you could just paint 'em for the fun of it. They are great minis, by and large. I guess it depends how much of a gamer vs. painter you are. [Edit: You said in your post you don't paint. Duh on me! eBay then] |

Yep - those old plastic 'beaky' marines might fetch some change as well. The Auld Grump |

Saddly the ork book is missing the cover, all the pages seem to be there based on the table of contents, but that'll destroy any collector value. It's got some metal rings along the spine, which makes me wonder if the cover removal was deliberate to put it in a binder or something. I am considering ebay. But in my experience to get a good price I need to know their names. |

Some of my relatives were out garage sailing today and picked up some board games for me. Risk - free heroscape- $5 Battleground crossbow and catapults-$5 When they dropped them off at my house the 2nd 2 both came with pieces that weren't in the box. Heroscape I didn't even bother trying to repack, no way I'm getting it all back in. But I did try to fit the other ones stuff back inside. Mixed in with the pieces inside the box was a metal tin. Which turned out to contain a target giftcard still glued to the original sleeve. I called and checked it, its from 2007 and never used, $30 balance. I called up my family. But they went to 3 subdivision sales today. They don't remember which of them they got it at, let alone the specific house. So no way to returning it. |
