I recently played a rescue mission scenario for a set of zombie apocalypse rules that I'm playtesting. I'm afraid I can't say too much about the rules as they are still under development. However, I took about 20 photos of the game and they can be seen on my blog site, which is here at

Great battle report and even greater build. That was one of the best gaming tables I've seen in a while--who wouldn't want to play on that! I, for one, would be interested in seeing what else you've built and would like for you to continue to feed us more pics/write-ups.

Wow. I agree with 2GunMojo. This is one of the best tables I have ever seen. So many beautiful features. I just kept going back and forth in the pics seeing new, excellent features. Three things that really stood out to me were the Shellendrak row houses. Those were just beautiful, and that is an idea I have to steal . Another was your basketball court. That fence is just outstanding. I would love to hear how you made that. Then the bus shelter, Wow! I love your extensive use of props, and appreciate the difficulty in making some of those (the bus shelter for one), and can only imagine how long it took just to construct the props. I also like the way you incorporated some 3D props in, the hedges in the boxes from the Park kitbash look fantastic. And you even elevated your sidewalks. What a just masterful, first class, job. Congratulations on a beautiful table.

The battle report was also very well done and it sounded like an interesting game. I play some ATZ and I also love Zombie gaming. What happens to your characters bitten by Zs? Are they gonna turn into Zombies? Or are you allowed to disclose that yet under the NDA?

Thanks for all your kind words and thanks for looking. To answer a few questions - first the Shellendrak houses. These are two sets of semi-detached houses, typical of many found here in England, although I'm sure they also feature in American towns and cities. What inspired me to make them was the sloped roof kitbash. As soon as I saw the sloped roofs I immediately thought of a row of semi-detached houses.
The basketball court was actually quite an easy conversion. I simply replaced the cardstock mesh fencing with thin metal mesh. It's very light and can be cut with scissors or a modelling knife. The framework of the fences was printed onto photographic paper then stuck onto mounting card. I use that method for all of my builds. I'm not sure what mounting card is called in America (mountboard, perhaps) but it is roughly 2mm thick and gives all my builds incredible strength. For sure, it is time consuming work and probably doubles my build times but that doesn't matter. I want all of my builds to be strong.
Regarding raising the pavements for my modular game boards (I currently have 16 but more will follow) I decided when I began making WWG models about a year ago that my philosophy shall be "go the extra mile wherever possible". What this means in practical terms is pavements are raised, doors open and shut, windows are printed on transparent paper, etc.
What you see in those photos are all of my buildings that I've made so far, along with a small selection of props and vehicles. That is about a year's work and I thoroughly enjoyed making them all. My enthusiasm for WWG remains incredibly high.

@Lucky Joe. You asked what happened to the heroes who got bitten? The very last line of the battle report tells you that they all survived their wounds. BTW, I too play ATZ and to be honest, zombie apocalypse gaming was the main reason I became interested in WWG. When I was asked if I'd like to play-test these new rules I was over the moon.

Going the extra mile has worked very well for you, thats a beautiful build. When I get into modern I definitely want to give your fence method a try.

Very nice miniatures too. I wish I had 200 individually painted zombies!

I was seeing in your writeup that there seemed to be rules governing what zombies a character noticed (or maybe you were just "roleplaying" them?)...

Can you talk at all about the mechanics of that? Even from a high level perspective would be of interest. I'm especially curious about what mechanics there might be to force you to take certain actions as though you didn't have knowledge in a single-player game and what mechanics would be in place to keep players from knowing what they shouldn't know in a multi-player game.

And, of course, if you can't talk about it I understand.

Terrific work vampifan! Love the review and the photos are awesome. Mat board or "mounting board" is a really good medium to work with and its great to see a build utilizing that technique. Prices for the stuff are all over the map but you can get a good deal if you hunt around.

Thanks so much, Denny. Your words mean a lot to me. As with a lot of things, it does pay to shop around and I've found a good firm from whom I order my mounting card and foamboard from.
I'm still not 100% certain about how to go about posting photos on the forum. It'd be nice to be able to so that more people can share with what I've done. Sadly, it seems I'm not the only one as the pic you tried to post shows nothing more than a white box with a red cross in it.
