| Post subject: | The Christmas Tree |
Well, I finally managed to get the christmas tree from the storage building into the house .... only one fall, not too bad. I just didn't have the strength in my legs to haul it up the step to the garden walk, so I ended up on my knees .... decided to rest there awhile. Guess I better start taking the vitamins my doctor ordered (calcium and vitamin D). Anyway, its in the house and all the lights work! It is so beautiful .... I think I'll leave it up a couple of weeks. Then I'll ask my brother-in-law to take it back to the storage building. Decorating it is like a journey back thru time .... each ornament has its own story. Thank goodness I had kept them in storage. The fire took so much but this it did not have. It is truly like home now in my new house ... the corgis are as pleased as I am to see the tree again. Or maybe they can smell the rawhide bones I wrapped up for them under the tree. |

That's wonderful that your tree and ornaments survived, Delta. We put up our tree last week and it was great fun listening to the kids talking about each ornament as they put them up. Most of our ornaments are home-made and some are over 30 years old. The ornaments can hold such great memories.  We've moved over twenty times through the yearsbecause of our Navy career and we've managed to preserve those ornaments through the years. I'm so glad yours survived. Merry Christmas!

DI, glad that your Christmas memories survived. Tis the time of year filled with the most for me and mine. I do understand the devastating loss of tradition and memories that the complete destruction of one's Christmas decorations can engender. On the upside, it can be a time of rebirth and new traditions. This is especially so ever since we went to the suspended tree with the Crimson Skies themed ornaments, the memories and the collection have been building every year for us in ways I never could have predicted. Christmas is a time of forgiveness and giving. With the fulfillment of Advent and with this evening's start of the Second Day, may you all have a Merry Christmas clear to Twelth Night and into the future. |
