Post subject: | Help in 1890 boat for RippersHi |
Hi ! Next friday I would run an adventure for Rippers (but it will be the Dragon Island one from Amazing Adventures adapted) I would make use of skullcoven for the island and have to make a boat as I want a gigant calamar attaking it... I've use the base of the Mahyem Marina making it a bit long and with the wood floor...but Would be too much out of place use also the cabin... how will you make it ? mix-max with the maide (which I don't have but is one of the few ones I don't have and can be a good excuse to buy it) ... no time for build the maiden so no way use all of it.. Thanks |

Thanks for the answer... I'll try to put the chimenea or boiler...it will make more epoca as you said... the waterwheels for a sea boat is not right ? or can be ? I put here a picture of what I've so far...the basic configuration - only a bit enlarged - and the cabin and a box to go down...but I'm not sure they will look too modern... any more idea ? http://wormholegamer.com/photos/display ... m=11&pos=1 |

It's looking good. I think the Grump's idea of using paddlewheels is a good one. I'm looking forward to seeing more. Luckyjoe |

i like the AG´s idea to use the paddlewheels in your model. It could give it an air more "retro".The picture looks very nice. |

Ok ! ok ! you have made me buy the maiden... only to use as patch for what I've ... I will see at what have printed (it's a looooong box with prints from every imaginable set) that I can use... I will post a picture this afternoon to get your tumb up/down ... and yes...it'll have sidewheels ! Ok...at least a few pictures...I'm a bit out of time still need to make the sea (but I belive I will put only the tiles and the boat over no make anything more stable)...as you can see in the pictures there're wheels and there are parts of maiden...and the calderon for the machine... I need something to put over the driving-wheel ... any idea ? do you like what you see can I glue it to the place ? I don't know if I would have time for the mastil and the sails... http://wormholegamer.com/photos/display ... m=11&pos=2 Only that night to do it and should print what you belive I need so please...be quick ![]() |

Thanks ! I revised aaaaaalllllll the set searching for pieces to borrow...and I find the whels (there're two of them...one from village...that is the one I used and one from Dinas Ford...but that last is Full so better to use with a modified maiden)... Yesterday night I had no more time than to read the module again and "made" the conversion for the adventure (no fun in having the models done and no idea what to do with it)... so I had no much time to improve it... What I would love to find was something to put the driving wheel in it...as the cabin from Marina seems to me to modern...and the one from the maiden...is tooo for the maiden... maybe a tent from ... was villageworks ?? When I go out from work I would have 2hours to the PC to arrive...so I'll try to take another kick read (is not quite complicated and as much as I'm quite unsure of myself it's been enought years being GM to know to improvisate)...so I'll try to fix things and made look half-ended at least...but I promise you that with a bit more of time will take a better work for latter... |

How bid would you like the housing to be? You might use say 2 of the villageworks market stalls facing each other. That would give a small wooden room. Of course you would probably want to add a window to it as well. |

Yes...I'll try something like that... to give the aperance that there's a cabin for the captain at least !... I'll play with that -if I've time- or left for the v2.0 Edit: ok only 1 hour till party time...so that is the last version (I would try to end the sail and mast... but don't be to confident in it) The dragon is because the module is the last dragon (freely adapted) and I hope they found it like a simbol to hire that boat... http://wormholegamer.com/photos/display ... m=11&pos=7 |

I am fairly certain that the smaller wheel in Gloriar's image is a driver - a big cog that engages the actual waterwheel to provide motive power - a big gear. ![]() A lot of very early locomotives also had a drive cog similar to what is on the image. It drops the torque and increases the speed. On a steam engine the torque is incredible - the engine produces power on both actions of the cylinder, not just one. On a triple compression steam engine one ounce of fuel can move one tone for one mile. Let me Google for a bit.... Heh - found a video of , but not what I was looking for. The Auld Grump |
