Thursday: Noon to 8:00pm PST

Saturday: Noon to 8:00pm PST
Sunday: 11:00am to 7:30 pm PST

Went their once. Pretty cool place! Very similar to International Hobby Toys in Chinatown, but more actual MODELS and less toys. Some video games and anime/game soundtracks as well. Fun little shop. MUCH smaller than it looks in pictures!

Excellent stuff. It's be cool to make this thread a - places to go in seattle - thread. When I moved here, I did tons of searching around, found a bunch of stores, but more were not what I was looking for.

Do you have the address or cross street for International Hobby Toys and Pink Godzilla Games?

Yes sir! 601 S. King St. #101C. Not sure the cross-street. IHT is right accross the hall in the same building.

Pink Godzilla Games even made their own card game that was a hit - .

It's a corny game about video game design. More 80's/90's-ish style video games with puns relating to games like Zelda, Final Fantasy, certain racing games, and Metal Gear Solid.

One thing I love about their store is that if a game ever existed in cartridge, CD or DVD form, Pink Godzilla probably has it. Even games and game systems never sold in the US.

Kicks Hobby looks like a fun store.

There are only three hobby stores and two game shoppes in the surrounding 150,000 sq. miles; in other words, for about two hundred miles in any direction from here - in a certain direction, you would be looking at over four hundred miles.
None are very large either; the largest is a Hobbytown that we are very lucky to have here.
Then again, that store have not been open even nine months yet; we will see if they can survive.

I have been posted to this area three times (I do not complain about it unlike some at work - my wife's from here - I think that is why I keep getting posted back), and I have seen an amazing number of game shoppes and hobby stores bite the dust here.
Game shoppes and hobby stores do not have long lifespans here, the game shoppes especially!
The game shoppes usually die because they are either 1) not run as a business really or 2) non-wargamers or non-comics folks start them.
Both of these styles of start ups are recipes for going-out-of-business sales.

As far as the hobby stores' demise, I am not quite sure.
There was one store that lasted for decades, but that really was the hobby of one son of a prominent local family that was well off where family funds could always make up for short falls.
Two out of three current hobby stores is one guy's hope of creating interest in the two main communities of the region.
He has had a store in the valley's college town for at least fifteen years; he now has a store in the larger "metro" area in the valley, 57 miles away from the college town, for about a year.
We will see if they both can survive; a fair number of folks who attend that college end up living in that other "metro" area.

My policy is to not leave any of these stores without buying something - at very least a brush, a bottle of glue, something, so that I can contribute to their survival.
Most times I can get better deals on the Net, but there are sometimes I can get a serious sweet deal or at least lose the sometimes huge S&H at the local shoppe or store if I just exerise patience; that is why I always try to keep the locals open.

Seattle, actually Sea-Tac, is a much larger community so game shoppes and hobby stores probably last a whole lot longer there than here.

I normally hit this place up like every two weeks. They carry so many games and comics that I never have time to peruse everything that I want to.

They also rent anime and have tabletop games going every day.

HobbyTown USA used to be a gaming store in Omaha, but then it went back to strictly models and R/C. The one in Lincoln, Nebraska, is still both, but I can see the tabletop side dying out down there.

I checked out: Kicks Hobby, International Hobby Toys and Pink Godzilla over the weekend. All 3 stores are cool, but I really didn't find much of what I was looking for. The first 2 had plenty of mechs and other odds and ends, but not much in the lines of Kaiju.

I ended up going to (All the stores but Kicks are within walking distance) for a little grocery shopping (and to get my parking validated) and found a couple of Bandai Ultraman monsters, which are pretty close to the size I like.

Anyhow, now that I know where they are I can start hitting them up more often and, hopefully, score some goodies!

Yes, hobby stores in particular are really hurting. Edmonton used to have a dozen hobby/model railroad stores in the 80's, now there's only a couple hanging on. When MoroCraft on Whyte Avenue closed, I knew it was the end.

And this from someone who spends hours and hours a day on computers! If Things Go Bad and the grid shuts down, all of Wikipedia, Facebook, Usenet....all that stuff just vanishes in a puff of ones and zeros.

BUT....a beautiful model wooden ship or well-bound book will last for hundreds of years...and gets the last laugh by far.
