I have never been happier to be off the GW treadmill...

Did they ever even finish all the codicies for 4th ed?

I'm happy that I just use Astounding Tales! 2nd edition and make up rules for whatever needs to fit the scenario or use Two Hour Wargames 5150 if someone feels more tactical than heroic for the day.
We still occasionally throw down what I call the 'loosest game 40K in the world' but hell, we just started using 4th edition a few months ago cause one of our group found the rulebook for like $10.00.
I just can't handle being tied to a singular IP set of rules, gaming should be about creativity rather than being constrained.
Anyway, I gave up giving GW any money awhile back and am perfectly happy buying a variety of minis from a spectrum of sculptors.

You have GOT to be friggin kidding me. I JUST GOT 4th ed last YEAR. I am so done with GW. Will be playing NQ/NL and WarEngine. Forget this stupidity.

I never even got to play WH40K 4th... Got in some more third edition playing though. The number of folks who decided to give 4th a pass was pretty telling locally. A local store that pretty much relied on GW sales dried up and blew away - from both its locations.

I only recently broke down and purchased the 4th Ed boxed set for the cool wrecked ship terrain and digest sized books...

Well, good news atleast... VOR 2.0 is coming out.

I am sure a few of you remember this rule set ... one of the earliest adopters of the alternate turn sequence. Ahead of its time. And, I am not 100% positive on it, isn't No Limits based off this rule set?

Yes the amount of time one is able to dedicate to a Hobby (especially when you get older/have kids/career) in the light of so many amazing things to grab your attention, I am glad to see the shifting gears to a somewhat more accessible approach and bigger bang for my gaming time and buck.

I think Warhammer40k needs to drop the out-moded "I go, You go"...turn sequence if they really want to keep the attentions and interest of their audience. They have a great backstory & fluff...(honestly the main reason I still have an interest in what they are releasing). I liked 2nd edition the most. But I could see where it was a Character-centric game and a bit slow and plodding. It was still provided for extremely flavorful (if not frustrating) skirmishes.

Hey now, GW has some great games: Epic and Blood Bowl come immediately to mind. Of course, getting them to support their great games is like pulling teeth...

I always thought the pinnacle of GW's achievments lay in Warmaster. But I can't get anyone around here to play it.

Personally I don’t understand how you can compare Savage Worlds to Warhammer? Savage Worlds is a role playing system. With distinctly individual characters that have traits and flaws. It has loose and flexible rules that leave much of the decision making up to the GM. Where as Warhammer is a Tactical game with many identical figures and vary finely detail rules that try to leave no room for interpretation.

I gave up on GW when they gave up on Gorka Morka. Before that, I gave up on them when they gave up on Man O'War. And before that, when they gave up on Space Marine Epic. Hmmm, there's a pattern here somewhere.

SW started as miniatures rules and we are currently using it for a point based squad combat game. We used to play Warhammer and Warzone and now I and an experienced group of gamers are using SW... VERY happilly...
