WOW. This is a big loss. I met him once at Gen Con. He was really nice and friendly to me. I can't tell you how many times I poured over his books as a child (and that was quite some time ago). He was the father of the fantasy RPG and I'm pretty sad about this. ![]() |

Someone on another board said it best "Part of my childhood just failed its save vs death.". Gary opened a world of magic to us all. We owe him a lot for what he started (some of us more than others). I hope he is well rewarded in the afterlife. |

That's the sad thing about anyone's life... it always ends up in death. I always feel a sense of loss when one of the "Great Old Ones" dies... I felt this way about Heinlen and Anderson, and now Gygax. Sadly, his work has been largely expanded upon and eclipsed by more popular but less talented Developers. But with the newer, shinier products coming intoi the marketplace, I fear that there will be no way for me to convince my kids of the glory of the early days. |

Gary was the most incredible man I have ever met, and I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of corresponding with. I met Gary at GenCon 4 years ago, and ever since we have been emailing each other weekly ever since. I will miss him incredibly, and the impact he had on my life. I will never forget your warm handshake and laugh. I will never forget your patience. I will never forget your kind words when I needed them. I will never forget the life leason you gave me through our conversations. I will never forget the life that you brought to my kitchen table I will never forget the intrest you had in my life I will never forget the last conversation we were having. I will never forget you............. Jeremy Gygax |
