Post subject: | Robogear? |
I know this got discussed a very little bit on a Steampunk topic, lang and lang ago, but has anyone played the Robogear game? Is it a good game, and how good are the included models? One of my players is thinking about picking it up from the Warstore, which is pushing the models for use with Warhammer 40,000 Orks. Looking at them I am thinking that it might be a good 'kids game' to run at the local game store, in conjunction with PCom. *EDIT* I can't think how anybody might feel that these are Orky... The rules were a free download a while ago on IMEX's website. I haven't checked their recently. If you cannot find them, let me know I could send you the PDF of it if you like. The game is definitely aimed at the younger demographic. There are rules procedures for firing the spring loaded rocket projectiles that some of the vehicles have. A friend of mine bought the main set and a few of the additional mech vehicles. Having seen the set and models I can say that the models are very good and would fit in with 40k decently. As this was the reason he bought the set (as well as satisfying that inner-child with actual shooty weaponry). The figures on the other hand are too big in scale. More akin to the GiJoe action figures of the mid-late 80's.(ie. Not the Barbie doll sized Kung-Fu grip Joe's of yore) The platformer sets (originally produced by or for IMEX)are also perfectly suited for 28-30mm scale play too. And heartily recommend those. I think the Robogear game would make a great summer game AG. At the discounted price I've considered buying up as much of it as I could myself. But I am running out of room!! ! ! ~Floyd |

Heh, I have both the Platformer and the Chemical Plant sets, and really like them. Robogear looks, well, a bit silly. But it does seem like it might be good for a kids game. I decided that since there won't be a summer program this year I might as well set up something on my own. It won't be the same though - I am really going to miss the summer program. ![]() The Auld Grump |
