finally got my act together to start doing the old miniature gaming again (2 kids take up a lot of time!) i found my old starship trooper sets so i thought, lets see how far the games gotten these days... HOLY HELL THE GAMES BEEN SCRAPPED!!! the last time i looked at the SST stuff i was eagerly awaiting the Dropships, now apparently there isnt a hope in hell. anyway, enough ranting - il get to the point... has anyone out there got the skills to make a scale dropship for the miniatures using resin, card etc.? im hoping to find someone who can make this for a reasonable price, and depending on the results, a second drop ship to go with the first. i found this pic of mongooses prototype but i dont know about any1 else but i think the thing is way under scale....looks fantastic tho. obviously the 2 that im hoping for are a lot bigger! |

i know how u feel - iv got an 18month old son, 5 month old daughter and #3 on the way. if i havent gone bald and grey yet im sure i will have done by the end of this year .
alrighty, well what i can do, i should be able to track down some art work of different angles and i should be able to get some images from the movie itself. i am right in thinking sides, back, front, top and bottom? thank you in advance if you are able to do it. il pm you as soon as i get those pics but i'll just attatch them straight to this thread. still dont know how to attatch them to emails lol |

I just imported and saved it in Sketchup. I just got a reply from the creator and he says its ok and seems a bit excited about the project. This will be SLOW going. But yeah should be fun. |

nice one - im smiling ear to ear now. i can well imagine it would take a hell of a long time to design and build, am i right in assuming were looking at months until we see a prototype? im gna sound really stupid here, so what way are you hoping for the finsihed product to be like? would it be a question of just cutting and sticking or would the detail need painting on as well? im only asking coz ive not had that much practice at painting on a large scale. as i mentioned earlier i know a lot of ppl who will be interested int eh finished article, with your permission can i give them a link to this thread? just to keep them updated on work in progress, potentially we may have a very popular project. |

Painting? AHHHHHhhhhhhhh run away! I used to build my own terrain, I used junk and Hirst Arts Bricks. I used to play lots of different Wargames like 40K, Mordhiem, Historicals, etc. I gave it all up because of World Works Games and WizKids and all because I HATE painting. I suck at it. Prepainted miniatures and Cardstock terrain is where its at for me! So the short way to answer your question is I will texture the dropship. If you would prefer to paint it then I will add a blank one with only cut and fold lines. Cheers |

I liked the first but I don't think I made it all the way through the second. If I see th third its probably going to be on tv or as a free rental. The preview doesn't move me to spend money. |

i absolutely love the 1st one that gt me iterested in the SST miniature game in the 1st place, the 2nd movie i just about managed to tolerate but he 3rd movie - well lookin at the trailor - im quite stumped as to what to say about it. its obvious that a lot of the footage is the type of infomercial propoganda type from the 1st movie so i can tolerate that being cheesy as hell, but lets be honest, a little cheesieness, even in the acting, can add character to the film as a whole. I kind of wish they took more notice and influence form teh cgi show, they appear to have the battle suit at eh end of the trailor which doesnt look as good as the tpes int eh Roughneck Chronicles. i could prob compare all these things all night and slag off the cgi that im hoping is jsut work in progress but the wifes pregnant AGAIN and wants 2 go 2 bed to have her back rubbed (no rest 4 the wicked eh?  )
oh - b4 i forget... Highland_Piper - any news ont eh dropship yet? im hoping within the next couple of days, jus 4 the hell of it, 2 put some of my paintwrk up on the thread so any constructive criticism would b appreciated. so keep an eye out |
